Wet snow is falling here in the north of Edinburgh as I write.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Dry snow and snow pellets here blowing along the ground.

Temperature dropped from 6 C to 4 C.

Lots of mature Cumulonimbus clouds upwind to the north, looks like there will be more to come

A passing wintry shower that yes...contained a few flakes of snow !

Impressive that it fell with an air temperature of 9.1c and a dewpoint of -0.6c.

For all the hype this has been a truly pathetic 'bone dry' northerly bringing far less in the way of snow than all of the other far shorter cold snaps I can recall in April - 1990, 1995, 1998, 2012 and 2015. Wasn't here in 2008 but that was probably better too.

It's just beyond a joke how poor northerlies have become producing very little in the way of precipitation. These synoptics in the past would have produced lots of convective activity with snow, rain, hail sleet showers persisting much of the day and only brief sunny periods in between.

Now all we get is cold, sunny and mainly dry conditions that are rendered useless and unpleasant by a vile wind. Showery activity is lucky to last half an hour in total across the day

Even if this had been January I doubt the accumulations would have topped 5cm from a whole week of northerlies

But I thought most of your whinges were about manky grey overcast stuff- in fact I think I recall you saying it would be better if it was sunny and cold.

No point in attempting to reason with him, he will whine whatever the conditions are. It's what he does.

Still getting snow showers here in South Edinburgh, but the hail last night was something else - about an inch deep in 10 minutes! Mostly melted but patches happily lying in the shade now.

Faster moving showers today so perhaps not as much potential for huge dumpings this evening, but Euro 4 still shows some areas to get 10cm plus. Probably not exactly where shown but highlights the potential.

Wintry showers making it all the way down here to Poole. We're about 60/70 masl. The sun is lovely and warm when it comes out and there is a whiff of BBQs in the air!! It's all snow when the showers pass through. Spring weather in the UK at its best. Great stuff

Soft hail was falling when I left work later this afternoon, but recently had a proper snow shower go through.  Plenty of convective developments going on at the moment.  Temp at 6C.

Settling snow again here this evening. That is a week exactly since it started. Snow in April is not unusual but a week of it seems a bit excessive.
