London city airport at 35C

Suggests 38C+ could be on the table if the airmass doesn't pull away to the east too quickly.

It doesn’t feel any cooler here at all. Why? Because it’s not. The forecast high today is 29c, yet it’s already 27c here and it’s not even 9am. Something is going to need to happen for us not to vastly exceed the MetO high in the next couple of hours

Can confirm it is roasting in London City!

Re the cloud. It patchy shallow altocumulus, as yet its really not making a dent and massive patches of blue still.

Correct me if I am wrong please.

|t seems to be part of a change of air mass as it's currently 24.9C here when it was well over 30C this time yesterday. It feels lovely.

Mid Suffolk. Ecowitt WS90 haptic array:

11.50am 34.0C, humidity 48%.

The latter has been steadily falling and at the moment, conditions are far more pleasant than they were yesterday at 32C. We can, though, feel pulses of warmer air coming through our living room door!

Ecowitt station map is reporting similar data - 33C to 37C from around 20 stations of various types within 5 miles of us. 37C at Debenham (the school, I believe)

[Edit] 12.10. 34.6C, 45%

[Further edit] 12.30, 35.2C 43% This time yesterday it was 27.2C, 66%. Currently reminding me of a walk round Matera in southern Italy a few years ago.

35.8 at Cavendish and probably another 2 hours of heating to go, could be a 37 today or even a possible 38?

There is actually a notable cooling sea breeze at my end with curtains flapping in the south west wind as I type this at 12 pm. Making the current 25 C feel like a giant air conditioning unit has just been switched on, not that I am complaining as it is still quite sunny!

Doubt the same can be said for north and east Kent as the heat shift towards there.

Temperature is nudging up again as the sun returns. 32.1C the high so far today.

Chris Fawkes on the BBC website says the high minimum last night was 22.7 at Herstmonceux, so not quite as warm as Cardiff the previous night.

BTW we also missed out on a thickness record, by the looks of it, unless today's from Hertsmonceux beat it. GFS has 578 at midday with 579 in the afternoon (but readings are only taken at 11Z and 23Z).

With all three CET stations already at 30C or more and a potential 20+ minimum from last night, this is probably going to be the second hottest day ever.

It's just hit 35C here (21.7 dewpoint), only the 3rd time it's managed it in my life (Aug 03 and Jul 22 being the other two - and both of those were over mid-afternoon as a sea breeze kicked in. That's unlikely to happen today).
