Plateaued out at 28.6°C for the last hour and it actually feels lovely (after 35.2 yesterday). As Einstein theorised....

Indeed , it was a ridiculous decision not to include EA in the Red zone.

Not the first time the Met Office have got it badly wrong.

It is not just based on one maximum temperature.

No surprise to see today has been the warmest of the heatwave. It often happens at the end as the plume gets shoved away eastwards, it's something we've often seen over the years.

Seems like the strong heating has levelled off especially in the London area as cloud has moved in. 38-39C still seems possible in E Anglia though.

Just need 37.2C to make it the 6th hottest day ever. This would be 1990 would be relegated another place and would mean the top 6 have all occurred in the last 23 years, and 5 in the last 7 years,

We're currently equalling thd hottest 3 day period (in terms of Max temps) ever recorded in the UK. It's very likely to surpass that in the next hour.

Extraordinary times.

Currently we have 36.1, 36.7, 36.1 so some way short. (Max official site so far is 36.1 at Cranwell which is another flippin' RAF base!)

You know this heatwave is quite memorable when you class 33 C as getting cooler. 😅

Oh, almost forgot to mention, it didn't get any lower thsn 23.2 C at 4 am at my end. Made for rather uncomfortable broken nights sleep. Dreading tonight with the nearby nightclub being open until 3 am - unless I actually get lucky with a thundery downpour by then.

Quite alot of 36Cs around. We should go above 37C today at least, but I think 2003, 2019 and 2022 are looking safe.
