London City reached at least 17.5 too - a shame these reports only show to the nearest whole degree!

That is same scenario as what we have at Edinburgh Airport because what those two stations have in common is that the raw data is in METAR format rather than BUFR/SYNOP format (you will probably know that already, but this is for the benefit for anyone reading this who doesn't) and for all of those METAR stations (which take in the major airports), temperatures are only ever reported to the nearest whole number of degrees. This is despite the fact that Edinburgh Airport is also on the WMO list (it has a WMO number of '03160').
In addition to that, you can't get any actual minimum or maximum temperatures for the METAR stations as you can for the SYNOP stations and even those stations such as Kew Gardens or the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which aren't on the WMO list, and which therefore have a WMO number that starts with '99'.
Because of that, you can only go by the highest or lowest temperature readings for those stations on any given day which as we all know, are not usually the same as the actual minimum or maximum temperatures.
Furthermore, there is also other data such as rainfall or sunshine totals which you can't get for those METAR stations (at least as far as Edinburgh Airport is concerned). I'm pretty sure that there was a time in the past though when you could get rainfall data for Edinburgh Airport.
Having said that though, Edinburgh Gogarbank (which has a WMO number of '03166') is very close to Edinburgh Airport to such an extent that I'm still able to get a good enough picture of the conditions in that area anyway, just from the data from Edinburgh Gogarbank.
Back on topic and once again, our so-called "winter" which has now become more or less a complete non-event here, has really gone down the toilet pan once again as the temperature here in Edinburgh has now climbed to around 12°C.😡
It's still overcast and so our latest permacast hell goes on, but the earlier rain has now cleared away for now.
