8.7c to the 19th.

If we can avoid frost in the CET zone we might take the record yet. Could be very close.

just needs to be warmer than an average CET mean of 6.4C for the next 10 days to beat the Feb record

looks eminently doable provided this imminent cooler snap is not too prolonged

Plugging in today's 6z GFS op figures for Manchester (give or take, depends on which gridpoint you take, and using it as a proxy for all three CET sites) would give a final CET of 7.55... it's going to be close, but I wouldn't bet on it beating the record.

A shame, really, as it's been such a crud month weatherwise it'd be nice to get a record from it!

They're calling 8s and 9s cold. That's about the lowest we're expecting in East Anglia. Still  reckon we're on for an 8.0C or 7.9C.

We’re usually on a par with CET stations and 7c -8c is the max forecast for the next few days, but 0c to 3c at night.  That’s going to average out around 4c - 6c.

Exactly one week left and 0.8C above the record. I wonder how much it will drop.  🙂

I think it’ll be close but no cigar.  We’re going from double figures during the day and mild nights, to single figures and frosty.  That’s going to make a dent in the final figure.

The last 8 days need to have an average CET mean at 5.8C or warmer to tie or beat 7.9

My guess is that we will but it will be close

I hope we make it. Somehow I reckon now we'll equal it.  🙂

The extra day on the 29th looks very mild so could help us take the record. Will be very close though

Well. It hasn’t gone down today, so only 7 days left. I honestly expected it to have fallen today and thought the record was just out of reach. Now I’m not so sure.

It's actually a shame that this month now stands a very good chance of being the warmest February on record, simply because it doesn't feel as though it deserves it. It's been mild yes, but more often than not it's been laced with wind and rain which has tempered it quite a lot. I certainly can't remember any particularly mild-feeling days, locally.

I would much rather see a month like February 2019 take the record, but such is the way with these things.

Yes. It’s really all about our senses and what we perceive, rather than actual stats.  We tend to remember weather conditions rather than temperatures and this month won’t go down in my memory as being exceptionally mild, even if it takes the record, as it just hasn’t felt it.

I still reckon it won't quite make it.

Today's widespread frost will end up causing another big dent, then it's only the 29th which looks like being relatively mild.

It'll be a shame if we don't make it, as it has been a remarkably warm month. I've lost count of how many times we've reached the teens down here, bearing in mind the teens are a minimum of 5C above average!
