Things were drying up and January rain total well below average at about 45mm - until this morning when it was very heavy for a while with 15mm by 9am, more light and patchy since then but close to 20mm
6C currently.
Wind is in NE but the mess of rain is actually moving steadily in the opposite direction and presumably very gradually further north.

Temperatures in Highlands have dipped below -10°C this morning I believe.

Very windy here, again. A rather academic 6°C.

I’m very surprised with the forecast winds that there is not an amber warning for the far north given the forecast wind speeds.

It seems the criteria are tougher for Scotland than down here (10mph higher seems to be the norm, going by recent events), but even so - the yellow mentions winds up to 85mph, which you'd think would be enough to trigger an amber!

Incidentally, the MetO automated for Ben Nevis has the highest winds I've seen forecast for the UK... 91 sustained, gusting to 109.

Here we go again as the umpteenth named storm barrels in. First time in my life that I've been blown off my feet!! I was up the hill this morning on the summit at 160m 🙄
Gogarbank has recorded 52mph this morning, a low level urban site.
Glad to be back in the house, the rain is horizontal! Can't remember such a stormy winter as this!
