Woke to full sun and clear blue, still full sun and clear blue 15.2c, going to be a hot one methinks, if it stays like this.

15.2C here as well, not far from you. Sunny and breezy from the NE; I'll be making the most of the next few days as the inevitable heat and humidity will arrive next weekend.

Following a rather dull first day of this summer, the following two days were much sunnier with a total of 13.03 hours of sunshine at Edinburgh Gogarbank during Friday and then a total of 12.95 hours of sunshine at that same station during yesterday.

That makes Friday our sunniest day of this summer so far although neither of those totals were enough to give us our sunniest day of this year.

The last couple of days have also been bit warmer here and yesterday gave us our first maximum temperature of this summer of 20°C or higher (albeit only just) as the temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank reached 20.2°C,

However, that wasn't enough to give us our warmest day of this year.

As for today, there are some decent sunny spells around here in Edinburgh as I write, but with some bits and pieces of easterly muck also continuing to be blown in from off the North Sea at times.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 10am BST (09:00 UTC) this morning was around 15°C here in Edinburgh.

Very poor show by the Met & Beeb today - instead of clear skies and temperatures of 21C as originally forecast, we have lots of cloud and a temperature of 16C. The North Sea cloud has actually become more extensive as the day has gone on.

Doesn’t bode well for the coming week!

Yes very annoying. Was actually fairly clear here until 11.30 then the cloud moved in.  Some breaks and we are right on the edge of it but if anything it is getting darker here now.

Here in Edinburgh, there's been no shortage of sunshine during this afternoon but despite that sunshine being virtually as strong as it ever gets at any time of the year (we are after all, just over two weeks away from the summer solstice), the temperatures are still refusing to rise here thanks to that cool wind which is still coming in from off the North Sea.😡

As at 3pm BST (14:00 UTC) this afternoon, the temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was pegged back at only 17.6°C and at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, the temperature at that time was only a rather miserable 15.1°C which isn't even the least bit warm for this time of the year in either case.😡

I have noticed though, that it's a lot warmer further to the west with the temperature in and around Glasgow getting up to around 23°C as at that same time.

Overcast here at 21.00hrs - grey skies but gusty. Temperature has dropped to 10C. Feels cold in contrast to the sunny conditions of this afternoon.

Despite the presence of a little bit of easterly muck at times during this morning, today has ended up being our sunniest day of this summer so far with a total of 14.22 hours of sunshine at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

However, that has only made today our third sunniest day of the year so far and this means that there is still plenty of scope for us to be able to get our actual sunniest day of this year during this month if we can somehow, avoid those cloudier starts to each day as we were only just over an hour of sunshine short of that today.

Sadly though, the temperatures didn't really match up very well with the amount of sunshine which we had today because due to a cool wind from off the North Sea, the temperature only reached a maximum of 18.28°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and just a measly 15.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which are closer to the coast than Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 9pm BST (20:00 UTC) this evening was around 12°C here in Edinburgh.

Cloud has cleared earlier than expected today. 12.1c and sunny with skies almost clear now.
But every day this week runs the risk of horrible long lasting cloud.
