I am in full agreement with that which is why I wish that they would just go away and then come back in around 6 months time when we will then be looking for them deliver some really cold and snowy weather in these parts.

What's the betting, that won't actually happen though.😡

Good point. If this same pattern occured last Jan or Feb, we'd be seeing something akin to the winter of 62-63.

We seem to receive a direct hit from 80% of southerly plumes as of late. Used to be rare to see 30c in Carlisle. Recently this has been achieved routinely and comfortably.
I've noticed Leeds area climate has got much better too.
Cumbria's climate is improving it seems especially at low level elevations.

The repulsive diabolical hell continues with the 12th completely sunless day since 27th April. Crud wouldn't even burn off well inland 🙄

12 completely sunless days in barely six weeks at what should be the sunniest time of year 🤬 The same number as there were in the entirety of January, February and March 🤮

Didn't even make it to 12C with an unpleasant and uncomfortable max of just 11.7C. I would need to wrap up in winter gear to go out cycling in this so I'm not going to bother. It's just beyond depressing 🤢

Where on earth has such an awful climate that it couldn't get a single air frost in February yet still be getting freezing cold sunless rubbish come summer? Even the Faeroes climate is preferrable to the unadulterated posion that 2023 has pumped out relentlessly.

No chance of seeing 20C for the forseeable, as even when it's sunny it's still a struggle to get to 15C, which means for the second year in a row the first 20C will be later than it was in 1963 🙄

Soul destroying doesn't even begin to describe this complete and utter 💩

Another very pleasant day here - the NE'ly continues and it's been sunny for the whole of the afternoon. 15C outside in the sunshine and feeling very nice indeed indoors.

The only thing missing is some rain. A small chance of some at the weekend but I'm not getting my hopes up. The drought is now in its fourth week here!

This of course, is yet another example of the weather gods delivering the exact opposite of what we would normally be looking for at any given time of the year.

I have seen so many recent winters ruined by "if only it were summer" synoptics at that particular time of the year with very mild air coming up from the Canaries or the Azores at the very time when we normally be looking for cold winds from the north or east to deliver some snow.

Of course, it's still very early in this summer and therefore, it is far too early to be writing this summer off altogether. What we do know though is that this is the time of year when we would normally be looking for those hot southerlies to deliver plenty of warm sunshine to these shores.

Instead of that though, this summer is currently be ruined by "if only it were winter" synoptics with cool winds from the east or NE which keep on feeding in lots of easterly muck from off the North Sea.

You really couldn't make that up if you tried to!!😡

As a result, the Sun did come out here in Edinburgh for a while during this afternoon but unlike on other recent days, that cloud never completely cleared away at any point in time and it has now thickened up a bit once again to make it largely overcast with no more than just a few hints of brightness.

As that has been happening, temperatures have also been refusing to rise and have ended up being no higher than around 15°C here in Edinburgh.😡

A further irony in all of this is that you are getting temps I would enjoy the most, and I'm getting those you would. This map shows not so much temp but where the warmest regions are relative to other areas in  the map. This has been ongoing for over  a week now. A nice and coolish UK and relentlessly warm Ireland... of which I just happen to be in the most warmest part yet again: 😡

While the clear, empty blue skies are nice, they become very boring after a while, and the long hours of mid 20c temps everyday are beginning to really grate. And while this sort of weather and temps is not unusual at this time of year, this particular spell seems to be going on way, way longer than normally would be the case, and there looks to be no end in sight at all.

A bit of rain would go down well with farmers and growers in this part of the world though.

The possibility of showers is gradually starting to appear in the latest model output but as we all know, that can be very much a hit or miss affair.

I thought gloating was allowed too?

I am down in Devon at the moment (unfortunately not for the best of reasons) and there has not been a cloud in the sky for the last three days. Still a bit of a fresh northeast wind though.

It just goes on and on, lucky we have the met office to issue heat warnings.
Eventually June may even get a day above 60F

Sounds grim up north(east). I see the MetO for Scarborough has continuous overcast and top temps of 12C through to Friday, while down here on the south coast it's unbroken sunshine and low 20s. The North Sea has a lot to answer for.

Never mind, the MetO thinks you may reach the dizzy heights of 17C by Monday!

Significant cloud still covering 90% of the UK at 11am. Little chance it will clear here at all today. Hopefully better tmrw.

Same here in London and  so cold ! Unlikely to see any sun today then all change to heavy rain/ thunderstorms for the SE this weekend. I still believe that this summer  is not looking  to become a classic  in fact quite the reverse!

Absolutely freezing here, both yesterday and today.
This has been a quite dreadful performance by forecasters. It feels like early March, and now looks like a wet weekend upcoming.
