While it is a bit on the breezy side, it is actually quite sunny and feeling mild at 12 C & mid 80% H. All helping to shift the dampness quite easily.

The BBC weather app is really C..p , showing that we should be at -4C now, currently it’s 2C , said heavy snow all day , it rained all day. This is modern day forecasting ? People rely on this information , could somebody sue, if they got caught out by a crap forecast ?

This has been the first significantly wet day since January, with over 15mm of rain today, and still counting. Heavy rain continues to fall, but the temperature is falling now as the Arctic cold front approaches. The Met Office are hinting at the chance of some back edge snow around here in the early hours.

5.5°C now, down from 9.5°C at 17:00.

Today has been a complete write-off of a day here in Edinburgh with moderate to heavy rain falling for most of the time.

As at 8pm GMT (20:00 UTC) this evening, a total of just 8.6 mm of rain had fallen at Edinburgh Gogarbank since 9am GMT (09:00 UTC) this morning, but as much as 17.6 mm of rain has fallen at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh within that same time scale just to show how localised, the torrential downpours were which were embedded within all of that.

Those totals may yet still not be the actual final totals for that current 24 hour period in the end, but the rain is now finally clearing away from the north and so, I don't expect those totals to change all that much during the night.

After the very mild start to today, the temperatures have gradually dropped throughout today, to around 2°C as at 8pm GMT (20:00 UTC) this evening.

As it turned out, that much milder weather which we had just 24 hours ago didn't last for long here.

The skies are now much clearer after yesterday's rain had cleared away to our south, but the cold and frosty weather is now back with an official air frost at all three of my local stations.

This means that we have now already had far more in the way of air frosts during this month than what we had during the entire month of February which is absolutely ridiculous when you consider that February is supposed to be a "winter" month whereas this month isn't.😡

As at 4am GMT (04:00 UTC) this morning, the temperature here in Edinburgh was around -1°C but as low as -4°C at Edinburgh Airport.

The temperature here fell by 2 degrees in 20 minutes earlier as the cold front swept through.

It's still breezy, but the wind has veered NW'ly.

5.6C / dew 2.2C, which is the overnight low so far.

I mentioned a while ago that the skies were now much clearer, but that hasn't lasted for long either as it has now once again clouded over from the west and we might even end up struggling to get even a wee bit of very early sunshine just after sunrise as a result.

As at 6am this morning, the temperature at Edinburgh Airport had jumped up to -1°C, but it's still -1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and around -2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

EDIT

Clear skies have returned and we shall have our bright and sunny start to today after all.

After a bright start with some sunshine, it is now overcast with cold rain whipping around in brisk NW wind making the current 5.9 C (it was 9 C during the night) & mid 80% H feel rather bleak. 3.4 mm of rain so far, most of it from last night.

This Autumn just won't die. 😁

Ended up with a pleasant enough afternoon at least in terms of the sun beaming into my west-facing living room providing some solar heating. Still a chilly 7.6 C & mid 60% H outdoors but we have lost that nagging NW breeze. This morning's cold rain showers bumped today's rainfall to 6.4 mm.

Last night was cold and frosty yet again with yet another official air frost at all three of my local stations and although this morning started off on a fairly bright and sunny note, it has now completely clouded over.

Last night's overnight temperature got all the way down to -5°C which is now bordering on being ridiculously cold for this time of the year😡 and even as at 8am GMT (08:00 UTC) this morning, the temperature here in Edinburgh was still ranging between around -1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh and around +1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank.
