Today has been a complete write-off of a day here in Edinburgh with moderate to heavy rain falling for most of the time.
As at 8pm GMT (20:00 UTC) this evening, a total of just 8.6 mm of rain had fallen at Edinburgh Gogarbank since 9am GMT (09:00 UTC) this morning, but as much as 17.6 mm of rain has fallen at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh within that same time scale just to show how localised, the torrential downpours were which were embedded within all of that.
Those totals may yet still not be the actual final totals for that current 24 hour period in the end, but the rain is now finally clearing away from the north and so, I don't expect those totals to change all that much during the night.
After the very mild start to today, the temperatures have gradually dropped throughout today, to around 2°C as at 8pm GMT (20:00 UTC) this evening.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
