Rain turning to snow here. One of the most DISSAPOINTING events in UK weather IMHO.

Fixed it for you Brian! I'm the wrong side of marginal here and what 24hrs ago was forecast to be 8 hours of heavy snow with a stiff Easterly breeze, drifting and near blizzard conditions here at 300m asl is now cold heavy rain in a stiff Easterly.

Blizzards conditions here now with strong ne winds.  

Fresh sprinkling on Arthur's Seat as N Sea Forth streamer set up overnight. Just missed out here but we have yet more ice! 0.5 C

It's just typical though, that these showers end up missing those parts of the south of Edinburgh where they are more likely to fall as snow, but have been quite happy to hit the north of Edinburgh where they have just fallen as rain.

Interesting views from up the hill this morning of the streamers coming in over Fife and to our south. Numerous shallow CuNimbs or even just Cumulus with snow falling from them. It's 1.8 C but there's colder air aloft now

Moderate snow since 9, settled patchily late morning, now it has eased off a little any settling melted away. Going for a walk up the top in a bit, should be a bit more up there (300m asl)

Looks like the front has pretty well stalled, it will gradually decay as it comes south.

App which was showing rain to snow lasting right up until 5-6pm (mostly rain) now shows it dry for the rest of the day here, as even the persistent drizzle has now fizzled out.
