Here in South Derby, just up the road, it's been snowing heavily for roughly 100mins and is about 7-8cm deep. The snow band has definitely been pivoting in our area, but slowly. From the Weather Radar, it seems that the snow could be falling for another hour or two in our neck of the woods.

Not seen much snow hereabouts for a long time - with a little luck we could end up with 10-12cm!!

Bring it on - if only for the grandchildren going sledding soon.

About 8-10cm here. Snowed heavily 10-1, but now lighter and temp up to +2.2c

Quite disruptive on local roads
Tired to upload photos but apparently file was too large 😂

Top of Hertford (100m) very heavy snow for 2 hrs from 10 to 12: Approx 5cm. Still gently snowing on a perfect winter's day

Now more than 10cm deep and snowing like the clappers with, if the Radar is indicative, another 5cm plus to come!

If the sky clears later, methinks the temperature is going to drop like a stone.

Snowing heavily here now with a temp of 1.1C and DP of 0C.

Topping up what was left of this morning’s fall 👍

Temps here have dropped to 1.1C from a high of 3.8C today, at the moment we have some light rain which will be icy if the temp drops any lower. There's still around an inch of snow still on the ground so a top up would be nice tonight.

Edit, there's flakes of snow mixed in now so may get lucky.

In the last 30mins or so the depth of snow has increased from 10cm to 15cm and the snow is falling very heavily - what's it like down the road in Nottingham?

Hi Polar - intensity really picked up here over last 45 mins, very heavy now, I haven't measured but we've had less than that, I'm lowland nottingham tho.

I'd guess we've had 7cm maybe, still coming down, this now qualifies as a proper snowfall , lovely 👍

Met office app now saying snow till 8pm 😲 best fall for some time, my memory sucks not sure when, really should start keeping records !

Got 3 daughters in Nottingham. Arnold, Mapperley and Ruddington.
Lowland south Nottingham has 8cm now. Higher north Nottingham has 5cm.
It's still snowing hard as the thin band slows and pivots. Should start it's journey southwards soon

Little jealous of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire as I was hoping the pivot would be over the Birmingham area but that said they've not seen much this season so fair enough!

Hoping it doesn't die out before coming back across, a second top up would be lovely before a deep freeze tonight.

Sounds about right, it's unusual for us to get lucky like this here in nottm.  It's certainly scratched my snow itch for this winter, I'll take more if it's offered of course !!

I’ve been looking at the webcams for the M1 between J30 to J24. It’s seriously worth a look nothing north of Chesterfield and as you go past J27 it looks crazy. The snow band covers about 3 junctions J25 seems the worst affected.

Looks like it has pivoted over you!  I’ve been watching it on the radar, creeping North nicely until it almost got to us, then the band headed West!
Looks like you have it over you for a while longer!

Yes J25 to J27 all exit to Nottingham and Derby

That's a shame Caz, I was hoping it would continue but the arc of ppn not in favour of that on latest radar, going to stop watching it now, doesn't make any difference anyway 😁

That lovely looking radar image of precipitation passing over our town gave nothing more than a few flakes of snow and light rain, all has cleared by quickly with the sky now clear and after a brief rise the temps are now falling again.
