Yes there was so much potential for snow on Saturday and again on Sunday - he just seemed very vague. Also there is the potential for cold to return later next week (from 3rd/4th) - no mention of that - just a summary saying 'milder and back into double figures and wetter'.

This quote certainly raises my eyebrows the highest out of all of that Quote

I see the Evening Standard and Daily Mirror are at it again.

”Blanket” , “Severe” , “Foot of Snow” are just a few of the clickbait quotes they decide to use, for the next couple of days weather front.

(Not mentioning any chance of snowfall in central and Southern Britain in the later days)

Talks about the “tussle” between mild and cold air. Mentions chance of snow in the south on Saturday but then finishes with Sunday’s system just pushing in from the west and goes no further!

Tuesday 2 Feb - Thursday 11 Feb

Going into next week, it is likely that unsettled conditions will dominate, with low pressure systems moving in off the Atlantic. The weather will be changeable. Periods of rain or wintry showers, and strong winds are likely, especially in the west, with brief more settled spells in between. Westerly or southwesterly winds during this period will bring milder conditions to most areas, but occasional interludes of cold northerly winds are possible. It will be on this boundary between the colder and milder airmasses where any snowfall to lower levels could possibly occur. Towards the end of this period, we may see high pressure build over the north of the UK, bringing colder conditions and wintry outbreaks.

Thursday 11 Feb - Thursday 25 Feb

Although confidence at this range is low, current signals suggest that high pressure could be positioned over the north of the UK during this period. This would likely bring wintry outbreaks and colder than average temperatures to northern areas, as well as increasing the likelihood of more widespread cold spells. Any periods of milder, unsettled weather are more likely to be confined to central and southern areas, where greater than average rainfall is predicted. There is a continued risk of significant snowfall events on the boundary between colder and milder airmasses, with snow possible to low elevations.

Good for Midlands and your part of country but again the snow is falling in the same places that got the snow last week and the week before that - yet the same places miss out this week and even then it's Atlantic based 'transient' rather than an easterly nature - and a good reminder where the M4 is again on Sunday. Southern coastal areas, SW, SE and even Aberdeen will just experience more cold rain. Maybe we should all move to Midlands.

No change from yesterday at all, either late out or did not want to commit or things are exactly the same?

Lucky my area was safe to go out in the snow as i went 2 times on Sunday and again on Monday and many people were walking around, sledging and snow ball fights on the hill nearby.   Did not see any police car driving around my area at all.

Just saw the BBC weather forecast for the week ahead at 21:55 by Stav D. - Seems quite a different outlook from that of Thomasz Schaf' last night. - i.e the talk of colder weather end of next week.

Yes and how different it was to that of Thomasz Schaf's last night? Stav also showed the synoptic charts to explain the colder air arriving.

I see this weekends low is ‘storm Justine’.
There’s me thinking the next one was Darcy as we’ve just had Christoph. Oh wait, Justine is not our name so it doesn’t count (remember we had two B storms - Barbara and Bella, and between them Aiden).

Once again the whole naming thing is total cock and really annoys me (can you tell).

Hands-up who even knew we have a Storm Justine?
Thought so.

I've really gone off Schaf. He was great when he first came on the scene but I think his presentation skills have dipped majorly. He never really seems that interested, focusses in irrelevant stuff and likes to have a 'slant' on any uncertain outcome rather than discussing the uncertainties.

I'm surprised it goes right down to North London and the M4. I think the coverage area will shrink northwards as we get closer to the event.

Watched that with my finacee and she saw how the cold air coming from the east and told her we need this set-up to deliver proper deep cold than less cold temps we had lately.

Wintry precipitation is likely to persist over northern areas on Wednesday, showers in the far southwest, elsewhere rather cloudy with plenty of dry weather. Mild at first in the south; though high pressure building up over the north of the UK during this period is likely to bring easterly winds, cold temperatures, and coastal snow showers. A pattern of wintry showers persisting across the far north, elsewhere seeing mostly fine weather, widespread frosts, fog, and icy patches. Eastern parts seeing the most hazardous conditions, with further snow showers likely. The south and west will see the most of any organised rain and snow, but frontal systems are generally not expected to progress across the country.

High pressure to the north looks set to remain for at least the beginning of this period, before slowly declining, although confidence at this range is low. Mid February will continue to see cold, dry, and wintry weather, but towards the end of the month more unsettled weather may encroach from the Atlantic. These may bring rain and snow at times to the west and southwest. There is a continued risk of significant snowfall events on the boundary between colder and milder airmasses, with snow possible in many areas.
