Tonight’s streamer petering out - but left 15cm of fluffy powder snow. Useless for snow balls, but a winter wonderland

The streamer that we've been just to the east of us all day long through Leicester and Coventry seems to have shifted slightly which sees us now more in the impact zone. I'd say we have around 2CM which isn't great but it has been snowing in the air most of the day which has made it feel wintry.

It could well be an interesting day to come here if some of the high resolution models are accurate. The potential ranges from almost nothing to a lot.

Has anyone seen reports from places like Louth and Meath in Ireland? That looks like "lake effect" snow

Looking at the radar loop, that area looks like they must have some pretty deep snow by now.

We have had our first snow this morning only a dusting but the temperature has risen worryingly from 0.2c to 0.8c in an hour. I hope the system to the south isn’t forcing milder air into the mix. Today we could get a covering but as always down here we’re on the margins again.

My best, probably only chance of a covering in this cold spell will be this afternoon, and into tonight, as the front passes through Northern France.
Touch and go whether or not it will get far enough North. It's gonna be a now cast thing, watching the radar.

Happy to have called the Thames Streamer last night. Still merrily going here even though the Met Office app happily swears that the sun came out a couple of hours ago. 😆

More or less continuous very slight snow here. Been like it for 12 hours but no real increase in snow depth.

Not a flake here. Beanbag leftovers on the ground are melting slowly.

Light snow on and off today at Twickenham, but we did have some heavy snow for about 30 minutes before midday and left a 2cm covering. Most of that’s melted, with a temperature of 0c.

Still the potential for a few showers over Kent tomorrow from late morning onwards, initially for the North of the county and sinking south during the day. Will be interesting to see if that happens and if they retain a sufficient intensity to be more than light/flurries for MBY.

I'm expecting them to be moderate for a time, despite the models. I've re-arranged my day working from home as a result. The reason?

See if you can spot it.

After a glancing blow from the low in the channel this afternoon and a small streamer this morning our next and last change of snow from this current spell will be tomorrow afternoon when another streamer sets up in the channel. After that it’s anyone’s guess.

Looks promising and it'd be nice to see some heavier stuff fall in this spell. It's been good to finally get some snow on the ground but I've missed the usual Easterly heavy convective showers that dump a CM or two in short order before the next one rattles through. Shame that zone sinks south but if it does so having brought a period of moderate/heavy showers to MBY I'll be entirely happy with that, means more folks get to enjoy rather than just whoever is lucky enough to be underneath it!

Edit - I guess unsurprisingly the MetO forecast rather backs up your expectations and the Fax chart - just watched this mornings effort and that shows a line of showers developing during the morning and gradually sinking south, with these penetrating a good way inland. Fingers crossed that happens

Shower activity seems to be picking up a bit over Essex and across London into Berkshire.
