Meanwhile down south it had dropped to -1.4'c but is rising now. Currently -0.2'c. We are on the edge of the yellow warning. Needless to say I am expecting nothing!

Yes a clear squall line on the radar. Upper air temps are due to rise above freezing on the Wirral about now though .

Hi all, frosty bin lid at 6.30pm, now dry at 10.00pm, I think others to the east will see more snow. I do not think snow will settle in Burnley

Cheers Paul. S Enjoy those who get some snow

Their amber warning looking precarious.

The Alamo model has updated with its 21z run and still shows several hours of snow for this area and 2-3cm.

Predicted snow cover at 10am

Edit: Arome 18z also predicts several hours of snow

Still frozen solid out there. Strange to think that it will be raining and 2C in a few short hours.

Indeed , quite chaotic round here too and the semi main roads that run through Cookridge were still very difficult for any cars today despite numerous gritters and tractors with ploughs coming through today. As a result nice and peaceful though with roads deserted.

I too hope the slush goes quickly as there is nothing worse. Tomorrow might be a day to stay at home and not venture out.

Currently -1.5c and cloudy, last few hours of the Alpine wonderland.

It went from 1.5 c with a frost at 11.10 pm to 4.2 currently at 12.10 am with the frost all gone - a rise of 3.8 c in the space of an hour on account of a southerly breeze just starting to set in. Although DP is holding steady at 1 c, but I doubt I'll get to see anything wintry-related come the moment so I'm not going to lose any sleep over this one tonight.

Was heavy snow from about 4ish up until 730 am here, when it turned to heavy rain. Just about got light enough outside to see everything white - probably about an inch. Was all entirely washed away down by 830. The hills stayed white for about an hour longer. Then followed by about another two hours of heavy cold rain to really ensure the mudfest continues. Will be mildly interested to see how our monthly rain total compares by the end of January

Looking forward to the next band of cold rain.

Certainly some interest for Thursday, given the complex low pressure system hard to pin down exactly where.  Would be very fortunate if we got hit hard again!

Rain much more of an issue before then though.

It's still there on the 6z surprisingly, although a messy picture a few hours before so may be rain to snow if it verified as shown. A couple of hours after the below chart even has snow for NE Scotland, right down to the coast which will be a shock for some I think you're correct on the rain front though, a lot of rain for some in the week ahead - was on the bike earlier and most of the drainage ditches around here are full of water and the fields are very wet. Thursday's rain led to flooding and I suspect there'll be more of the same to come.
