Snow falling here with a crunch covering. Topping up the covering from Monday morning.
Could see the near full moon with the snow falling

I reckon there's 3-4cm here and still snowing very lightly. Looks like some more on the way too.
As there is no wind it's all going to be on the trees and will be a magical sight when it gets light.

A nice end to an utterly wretched year.

Unbelievably it’s still snowing here and we have a covering of about 4cm.

Yes I have my eye on that fresh batch of showers just south of Preston.

Caught the edge of those snow showers that hit Manchester a short while ago. Left a bit of a dusting on my car and the usual places, but nothing other than that.

There are more incoming. The showers seem to expand and intensify just to the west of Manchester. Not sure why!

Expecting a bit more snow here within half an hour or so. Still -1C/-1C

Yes, that clump up near Preston looks like it may hit here, then one or two smaller ones look to be developing behind it. Stuck at 0°C here.

Good to see you guys in the NW getting more snow.
Hopefully the top up will help it survive some of the milder weather tomorrow, also being west of the Pennines you are less exposed to the North Sea gunk which is coming.

I've just woke up to discover that it is now snowing here in the north of Edinburgh where it also looks as though we have had a slight overnight dusting.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Good result, Joe. We've had a 'freshener'. Not more than 1cm, but it's fallen on existing snow and ice.

Possibly more showers this morning, too.

After the latest shower to go through depth now 5cm.
Something brewing over Blackpool now that would seem to be heading in my direction.

(although in my defence I've been moaning about the spell overall and nationally, and how forecasted snow has failed to materialise)

A short light snow shower here. Not enough to leave any real trace, however. That's our lot for now to judge by the radar unless this evening's precipitation, forecast to be rain or sleet, in some way magically turns to snow. Two chances of that, I would say.

Snow still coming down moderately but turning wetter, +0.7 C with a light west wind. It's put down another 1cm on the frozen 4cm. 7 C in the north of Scotland now 🤔

For only the 3rd time in 25 years, the council gritter has made it down my street in Morningside.  Luckily we still have the "grit bins" at the top of the road like many Edinburgh streets, and it's certainly needed today!  As you say, still snowing here, so maybe the warmer air will take slightly longer to arrive.  BBC still expecting it to freeze over again this evening, I see, so I'm expecting a very slippery Hogmanay!
