Light snow starting to fall here in the north of Edinburgh as I write.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

The snow is also getting a bit heavier here in the north of Edinburgh and is slowly starting to settle here as well, thus adding to what is still left over from the other night there.

Fairly unexpected but snow becoming moderate and covered everywhere. The snow showers over Northern Scotland are now filtering SE into Edinburgh. More upwind too.
3rd day with snow falling and 2nd day with full snowcover in this spell

The band of snow is doing a fine job of missing Aberdeen by a handful of miles to the west/southwest. It’s just a pity that the rain tomorrow will not do the same thing. At least it is dry and frosty, I suppose that’s something.

Even here in the north of Edinburgh, the snow is only light at best and not really amounting to anything.

Like you, it wouldn't surprise me if it was a different story once that turns back to rain.

Feel for you Doc, I think we'll get a bit more tonight and early tomorrow before milder air arrives from Costa del Aberdeen

Yes and of course, if is only the North Sea Effect which makes it possible for milder air to arrive from the NE at our latitudes, rather than from the SW where we normally  expect that to come from.

Well it's still snowing after 2.5 hrs but it's light and becoming slightly wetter. 1 C now here. Really strange how this area of light snow appeared over Edinburgh

Yes I was thinking that, rather odd. Could do with something like that happening over us later, there were some muted signs a few days ago but looks mostly dry tonight now. Be nice to have a top up.

Looks like a cluster of more organised showers moving into North West England now, which should bring some deposits to most areas away from the coast. I had a light snow shower earlier on in the night - enough to bring a very slight dusting to the patches left from Tuesday morning.

Awoke to a dusting of snow which I think must have fallen sometime after midnight. After several near-misses over the last few days that's the most cover I've had - so far. Those showers moving in look capable of delivering perhaps a whole cm!

And yes we had another light dusting overnight.

Beefy showers about half an hour away from here now.

At last - Proper snow!
Coming down heavily, must be 1-2cm already.

Another morning, another winter wonderland with heavy snow.

Extremely unusually, it appears I’ve found myself in the England sweet spot for this cold spell. So far.

This shower won’t likely last too long but it’s another covering.
