Sat in the garden (with wine 🙂 ) there seems to be a conveyor belt of showers running S to N with hotspots in them but no sign of cells forming.  Feels slightly cooler so energy levels may be declining,  but ya never know I've seen storms grow out of seemingly nothing before!

Woken up by a thunderstorm about 10 mins ago. There was a huge CG which came down near Glossop centre. Lightning every minute or so.

Yes was just woken up by that small thunderstorm as well. Some nice anvil crawlers in that.

I'd gone to bed (wine finished!) and vaguely remember hearing heavy rain and thunder. Looking at last: night's lightning history I see strikes recorded around Marple and Glossop, so I didn't imagine it! So about 12.45 ish, how long did it last? I was a bit 'refreshed ' ..... :)

I think it was around 2am it woke me up. Main storm didn't  last long but there were occasional really bright flashes for another hour or so after that.

There's been plenty of Flash, bang, wallop here in Daartrford since about 3 am this morn, the most intense part at 5am that gave a huge Bang, sent the dogs nuts! We had brief hail then too, which wasn't exactly small.till cracshing & banging here as I type! Lovely cool 20c too.

Very localised. I'm less that 10 miles from you and we got a few brief (less than 1 min) showers of large-blob rain and heard some distant rumbles, but I could see the mass of very dark cloud stayed mostly to our west.

Yes, had a severe storm early last night, with continuous lightning and rumbles, although no real close-up bangs and crashes. This gradually eased by midnight, with only sporadic rumbles but almost continuous lightning continued out over the sea, lasting for next 2 hours. Did not notice any further storms during the rest of the night.

That storm was tracking to the west of me up the A1. I could hear distant rumbling which seems to have stopped now as it seems to have died electrically. Impressive dark sky to my west though and getting a nice cool outflow from it.

Storm over Cromer again. Not much warning before an overhead strike and thunder. Didn’t half make me jump 🤣

Not just the UK, the final part of Stage 19 of Tour De France had to be cancelled due to severe hailstorm;
