This morning's actually cooler than previous days down here: 12.4C and falling at the moment. The MetO raw has now tempered the heat compared to yesterday's runs, due to a last-minute change to easterlies (as opposed to ESE'lies) for much of the day - no complaints here!

It's still going to be a hot day inland, though, and even here the max is still showing as 29C, briefly.

EDIT: The max has now been revised down to 27C on the MetO raw.

Im prepared to say they've screwed up.  The wind is a touch S of E here already now, and that process of veering is only going to continue, plus with the upper air continuing to heat up until evening time, Id say its a classic case of a 5 or 6 pm max, which could be in your backyard, somewhere in the region of 32c, and could be higher.  We shall see.

They've picked up on something that's not on the likes of the GFS, that's for sure. The winds do veer to ESE, but then back easterly for most of the day - indeed, still easterly at 6 PM.

I suspect that could be the model creating a sea-breeze effect which modifies the otherwise SE'ly wind? Down where you are any such sea breeze would only reinforce the SE'ly flow, but here on a NE-facing coast...

As you say, we'll see.

My standard phone app now says peaking at 30c here at 5-6pm, the BBC weather app says the same and the MetO app says 30c by 3pm peaking to 32c at 5pm.  That’s increased between 1-3c on yesterday’s app forecasts and I can usually add 1 or 2c IMBY to forecast temps. We’ll see!

It would be good to see some records broken today on this side of the English Channel!

On Saturday, the most intense heat will be centered over Spain and the western two-thirds of France. By Sunday, the heat will progress eastwards, with France, Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic all at risk of breaking all-time heat records. ...The heat wave will diminish by Monday, July 1, when no further all-time heat records can be expected to fall.

Currently fifteen degrees here at Stevenage. Metoffice app going for thirty two degrees here this afternoon. That's a pretty interesting range that's for sure.

Looks like the cold boundary layer's gone for you then!

Up here it's 18.6C, but by gum the sun is fiery already. The cold layer is still in place, but for how much longer?

Third day in a row and same temperatures at the same time in Southern France.

Meanwhile warmest in U.K. is 23C at Bournemouth.

21°C here at 8:50am is quite impressive. If the wind stays west of southerly it could get very warm, a tweak to the east and it won’t.

Bournemouth still leading on 24C, but nothing very spectacular so far considering it’s already 9am.

For comparison it was already over 30C at 9am on 1 July 2015.

Interesting obs on my cycle ride; 20.3*C on setting off at 7:20, 26.7*C on returning home at 9:40.

Allowing for the unfortunate 3*C error margin, fits well with the official Bournemouth Airport / Hurn obs.

It was sultry on the off, the gradually less so, with 80% RH dropping steadily to 60% RH. A light breeze got going around 8:30 (after a calm dawn that allowed temps to dip to a disappointingly low 16*C; an insufficient payout for dealing with the warm early part of the night. There was a time when the models had a 21*C min here!).

We are at 25.3c (a rise of 0.6c in the last 15 minutes alone!) - it's highly unusual for a location like ours to get temperatures that high this early in the day.

I wouldn't be surprised to see us top out above 30c.
Even last year the max we reached was 28.8c
