I’m thinking the way it’s rising, we’ll miss out on a sub 5c March!

Difficult to be sure of where it will end up.  Corrections are usually downwards, so I would suggest a finishing number between 4.3 and 4.8c?

Is there any particular reason corrections tend to be downwards?

A downward adjustment of 0.2C is made by the Met Office  to allow for urban warming

I'm amazed it's remained so subdued. We've had temps up to 11/12c most days recently and few cold nights, and the CET wasn't that cold after the last cool snap. Thought it'd be up to around 5.5c by now

Yes, I’m surprised it hasn’t gone up more. But as much as I’d love a 5.5c finish, my thoughts over the past few days are that it will end nearer to 5c.

The other day I calculated that with average daily CET’s of 7.5c to month end, we’d be around that.  We had a couple of days when night temps were zero and day temps reached teens, followed by milder nights but cooler days.  Now, with 4 days left, final adjustments aside, daily means need to be 7c for the month to end at 5c.

Thanks for the prediction table. I don't think many of us anticipated the second cold snap which, though brief, must have been severe enough to have a considerable impact.

Thank you GW!   I second Grandad’s praise!

What a month it’s been!  Exceptional for weather watching and some good calls on the CET.   But, I’m just hoping April brings some Spring weather now!

Many Thanks GW for the great work in this competition, best wishes to you.

As for the March cet figure iam actually suprised its so high, this month has well and trully been an extended winter month and there is still no sign of spring its still winter albeit with daylight.

Imby there has only been 6 days when the max temp has reached double figures with a top temperature of 11.9c which is also the warmest day of 2018. Its also been very wet as well.

I predicted 4.7c for the March cet comp and fingers crossed i might be pretty close for once, lol.

Great competition and will soon be time for Aprils predictions, another difficult month to call.
