Since October's summary for the botanic gardens in Edinburgh has now been published on their website, I can now report the final totals for October for that station taking a rain day to be one where 1 mm of rain or more has fallen, which are as follows:

Monthly Total For October: 75.6 mm (Expected), 53.2 mm (Actual)
Number of Rain Days in October: 12.4 (Expected), 13 (Actual)

We had 70.4% of our average October rainfall and 104.8% of our average number of rain days in October, so that month was 29.6% drier than average according to the actual rainfall amounts, but 4.5% wetter than average according to the number of rain days.

2017 Autumn Total: 139.3 mm (Expected), 115.2 mm (Actual) (As of the end of October)
Number of Rain Days so far this autumn: 22.6 (Expected), 26 (Actual) (As of the end of October)

At the end of October, we had 57.2% of our average autumn rainfall and 76.9% of our average number of rain days for this autumn, so this autumn was 17.3% drier than average according to the actual rainfall totals, but 15.0% wetter than average according to the number of rain days at that time.

2017 Yearly Total: 581.4 mm (Expected), 621.2 mm (Actual) (As of the end of October)

At the end of October, we had 88.2% of our average annual rainfall, so this year was 6.8% wetter than average at that time.

As we can see, the botanic gardens in Edinburgh were wetter than Edinburgh Gogarbank during October and since it has a lower average October rainfall, the overall drier than average anomaly was also much smaller as well.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
