PS: Spurs fans don't laugh - at least Arsenal will still be 'in the chase' at the end of October.

Agreed, Brian, I think Spurs will be ready to throw in the towel probably by the end of September.

I know you're being tongue-in-cheek, but spare a thought for us, whose season actually will be over by the end of October!

Spare a thought for Sunderland fans, we will have something to play for until April.......................avoiding relegation

Solid wins for Chelsea and Arsenal last night and qualifying even at this early stage looks like a formality.

Tough game tonight for Man U and i expect them to scramble a draw in Valencia. Glasgow Rangers will look to attack at home against Buraspur and they should be good enough for the win....Leaving Man U in 3rd spot !

Tottenham will be to strong for Twente and be good for a home win.

As I've been at work only been able to catch the BBC text commentary, which gave the impression Man U were on top for the first half. Now home and seen the report which suggests Man U were not the best team on the night?

Who gives a ****** with 3 points in the bag away to a Spanish side......excellent result IMO

Yep, a good three points for United who were under the cosh. Valencia had enough chances to seal a win.

Quite the most bizarre game at WHL. A straight red that should have been given but wasn't (Huddlestone). Three penalties that should never have been given but were. Van Der Vaart misses a penalty, which should have been retaken but wasn't given.

Van Der Vaart then scores before rightly being sent off for a second bookable offence.

Spurs worth the win, but the scoreline flattered. Twente are no mugs and I would expect them to beat Werder Bremen at home.

Agree John... Valencia is a very difficult place to get a result. They have a fantastic home record in Europe and Man U have been total pants in Spain.

Valencia probably shaded the game in terms of posession but didnt really threat Van Der Sar...I thought Vidic, Ferdinand and young Rafael were excellent at the back. The substitutions made the the difference Macheda played in Hernandez and he worked his shot brilliantly to score...hopefully these two players will get more of a chance to shine.

Great result for Rangers they are in the running and if they can get something from the Valencia games they could bag a suprise qualifying place for the next round.

Terrirfic result for Spurs...sets up 2 great games against Inter.

Indeed John. We've already got more points on the board than we had after 6 CL games last season and so far haven't conceded a goal. So far, so good is what I say.

Yes Walter has been spot on !! and some much needed cash into the coffers. I really do feel that Rangers will be playing European football after xmas.

Benitez has a Cantona lapse. No, not a leap into the crowd with a kung fu kick - more like a trawler/sardines moment.

Great results for Chelsea and Arsenal last night all but sealed their passage thru to the next round job done.

Man U play Bursaspor tonight and i am pretty sure SAF will have his players really fired up for this one after the Rooney announcement i am sure he will want to make Old Trafford a fortress again and give the players "the everyone is against us" speach. Home win by a few goals .

Inter v Spurs on paper looks like a fantastic contest tho i think Inter will probably null  Spurs attacking play. If Spurs go gun hoe over in Italy they could lose by a margin of a cple of goals..Inter are very shrewd and an Inter win for me.

Rangers v Valencia  head tells me an Valencia win    -  heart tells me a stuffy draw. I think Rangers will set out to defend and look to counter. Valencia are a very good team and may just be to strong for Rangers but i am going for a draw.

Spurs will be looking (well I will be) for a draw. I can't even see that, what with Defoe, Dawson, Van Der Vaart and King out. 2-0 or 3-1 to Inter.

Good wins for both English sides last night

I expect Manu to win and Spurs might actually nick a draw

Fantastic, 3 down after 14 mins and also down to 10 men. This could be a major rout.

Amazing Bale - final score 4 -3 - Spurs could even have equalised....

Magnificant performance in the second half. Inter went to sleep towards the end of the game. Will prove interesting when they come to WHL. They clearly can't cope with Bale. Just wait for Van Der Vaart to get stuck in too. The Inter defence could well be shredded. Problem is, ours may well be too.

Indeed John. That's five point that the Gers have in the bag now- three more than we had at the end of the group stage last season. Even if we don't make it to the next round of the CL, we must be in with a decent chance of getting the Europa League spot.

So nearly a draw for Spurs, with the other game in the group ending 1-1, Tottenham must fancy their chances of going through
