My ideal situation is a warm,  breezy easterly with low humidity for a few days before a SE'ly moves in, turning the sky darker and hazier before the thunder starts to growl. Then... rinse repeat!

Looks like the 12Z models have flipped back to a proper snow event this weekend - odds getting shorter on that.

ICON has been rock solid all along - is it now the model to watch?

No I think he was right, the odds would be shorter if the likelhood of a snow event increased.

Haha you can tell i don't gamble !

Back to here and now - i wouldn't be surprise if the Met O start issuing some weather warnings perhaps a yellow warning to be aware soon - at the very least.

Decent upgrades this evening. Looks like the HP is being kept a little further North with the lower pressure increasing snow prospects.

Correcting north on most output so far tonight

Cold hanging on a bit longer too

This will come as a major shock to the system as people seem distracted by other events

Perfect time for Putin to switch off the gas perhaps! LOL

That would hit Germany hard, although there might be knock on effects on the rest of us - goes to show why fracking is so essential for the UK.

Anyhow, having got the snow in, the next steps are to see the models prolonging the cold (if lying snow in late March is to your taste).

Will be interesting to see what the ECM brings.

Could be. In all honesty, I had never even heard of ICON until the lead-up to the attack from the Beast a couple of weeks ago.

GFS mean and UKMO at t144 both show the easterly will be cut off by Tuesday at the latest still chilly but the strong sunshine will help immensly this time of year if you get any

Agreed. BTW in Copenhagen today, it’s rather chilly and sleety here.

Its predecessor, the GME, was derived from the ECM model's code at the time. The GME was noteable in having colder 850s than actually verified during the 2005 easterly. (It showed -16C at one stage, far lower than the other models were showing. In the end, it reached -14C at 850).
