Much of Lincolnshire has been badly affected today, many major roads closed.  Looks like my area has got off quite lightly compared to much of the rest of the county.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 7 Mar 2018 to Friday 16 Mar 2018:

Further rain, sleet and snow are expected at times on Wednesday and Thursday. Northern parts are likely to see the snow, whereas rain or sleet are more likely further south. Some central and eastern parts may stay dry. It will remain very cold in the north though with brisk winds. In the south, it will be less cold, but cloud, mist and fog are likely, which may be slow to clear during the day. In subsequent days, it is likely to stay cold in the north, but temperatures may return nearer normal in the south, but still below average. Rain and strong winds are likely across the UK, perhaps turning to snow across central and northern parts. The best chance of drier weather will be in the far northwest.

UK Outlook for Friday 16 Mar 2018 to Friday 30 Mar 2018:

The predominately easterly wind is likely to persist for a while across the north with colder than average weather here, but it may be a little milder at times in the south and southwest of the UK. There will continue to be a risk of snow across some central and northern areas, but in the far north and northwest it is likely to be drier. Night frost and ice will continue to occur at times. Later in March it may turn more unsettled and lh milder as westerly or southwesterly winds return. The timing of more Spring-like weather remains uncertain.

Slightly strange Tweet from the UKM (thaw in PARTS of the FAR south) and some iffy quotes in the press this morning about the longevity of the Beast. Perhaps switching off the computer screen and looking out of the window wouldn't go amiss on this occasion.

UK Outlook for Thursday 8 Mar 2018 to Saturday 17 Mar 2018:

On Thursday and Friday there will be sunny spells and showers. The showers will be heavy, with the risk of thunder and hail, especially in central and southern areas. There will still be the risk of more persistent rain and snow in the far north. It will remain cold in the north with brisk winds. In the south, it will be less cold and less windy. Over next weekend, there is the potential for a spell of very wet and windy weather in southern and central areas, with the chance of snow. Into the following week, it is likely to stay cold in the north, but temperatures will be nearer to normal in the south. Further snow is also possible across northern parts.

UK Outlook for Friday 16 Mar 2018 to Friday 30 Mar 2018:

The predominately easterly wind may persist for a while across the north with colder than average weather here, but it will probably be a little milder at times in the south and southwest of the UK. Typical misinterpretation from them. The two are not connected. The warnings are due to high tides and wind causing coastal topping.

UK Outlook for Friday 9 Mar 2018 to Sunday 18 Mar 2018:

Friday may be a brief drier and brighter interlude for many, although some wintry showers are likely to persist in the north. There will be the increasing chance of often heavy rain moving into the south later on Friday into Saturday. It will move north and northeastwards, followed by blustery showers. There will still be the risk of more persistent rain and snow in the far north. It will remain cold in the north with brisk winds. Over the next weekend, there is the potential for a spell of very wet and windy weather in southern and central areas, with the chance of snow. Towards mid March it is likely to stay cold in the north with some snow, but temperatures will be nearer to normal in the south.

UK Outlook for Monday 19 Mar 2018 to Monday 2 Apr 2018:

A continuation of rather cold and unsettled conditions seems likely to continue through mid-March, with a risk of further snow at times. The snow will mainly be in the north, with the wettest conditions likely in the south and southwest. It may then stay unsettled and become milder, as westerly or southwesterly winds return. This is likely to bring wetter conditions in the northwest and drier conditions in the southeast. Temperatures will start to recover to near average by the start of April, and it will perhaps be mild at times in the south and southeast.

UK weather: Snow and ice warnings remain as thaw begins

Icy roads and snow are continuing to cause disruption in parts of the the UK but forecasters say temperatures in many areas are starting to rise.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-43275976

Forget the Express this is from the BBC. At best it is poor reporting. The thaw across southern and central Britain was well underway yesterday and temperatures here are close to 7C at the moment.
