At one point this was looking like it could be a 10 day affair.
Then, for the south it became a 5-day affair
today was day one, which by your own admission didn’t really amount to very much.
Day 4 and 5 are now in question on the models (if not unanimously answered). Yes they could be epic, but the evidence increasingly suggests not
So we’re possibly down to a 2 day event. Let’s hope not, but pretending we’re where we hoped to be just a few days ago is rather sticking your fingers in your ears and singing loudly to yourself to ignore the message.
That said, let’s hope tomorrow delivers something. It could still happen.
Headlines in tonight’s metro exhorting everyone “to get home by 6 tonight” make the point nicely, as my undelayed train home happily trundles home across an utterly snowless south London. There certainly has been too much hyperbole so far, but not from the sceptics.
