Here is the webcam of Katla, to see if anything interesting happening;

After the last few days of excitement in Katla, things appear to have quietened down now. Roads have re-opened and life gets back to normal, for now.

The activity prompted the Scientific Advisory Board to issue a statement here, http://www.almannavarnir.is/english/the-scientific-advisory-board-meet-today-because-of-the-seismic-unrest-in-katla/

Things could go either way, so still worth keeping an eye on developments.

Yeah, it's the Mirror I realise; but interesting if there's any truth in it- Mount Teide blowing its top. It's the Canaries that are suspected of having an undersea rock shelf that, if displaced, might create a super tsunami.

Isn't it more a case of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on La Palma having an unstable geology whereby, in the event of an eruption, there's a danger of a huge slice of the volcano sliding into the atlantic and creating a tsunami?

For a long time, I've thought that it might be a good target for al Qaeda...

I obviously got the wrong volcano.

Thank goodness it'd take a lot more energy than implied in your thought....wouldn't it?

Like the map Dougie; thanks. We're looking at volcanic regions at school- might use it.

Yes, those are great links - thanks for sharing.

I'm currently keeping an eye on Katla again as the quake activity looks as if it may be picking up again today after a lull (although it may just be a little blip - too early to say).

Campi Flegrei near Naples giving cause for concern

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/dec/20/volcano-near-naples-showing-signs-of-reawakening

Its caldera, formed 39,000 years ago, represents the largest eruption in Europe in the last 200 000 years - and 1/2 million people live in it

Bogoslof in the Aleutians has erupted. Ash cloud heading for the Arctic, might affect a few great circle airline routes, might (dare I mention it here?) affect ice melt next spring

I see that Katla's status has been raised to yellow this morning in association with a suspected glacial flooding event.

http://icelandreview.com/news/2017/07/27/earthquake-katla-no-cause-concern has details.

Also on same page, if you scroll down, a story about Rejkavik's highest temp since 2008 (21.6C), recorded 26/7/17. 23.6 also recorded inland  at Thingvellir. This could tie in with the glacial melting said to be responsible for these earthquakes, and the prospect of flooding.
