The solar system and nearby stars to scale. Colour me unconvinced that the tidal forces of the planets have other than a tiny effect on this planet.
What's also mind boggling is the immense distance between our nearby stars and the Sun.
This is my view too, Dev - but your post made me think of Chaos theory and the concept that small, apparently unrelated, events can trigger significant consequences elsewhere.
Thinking of boggling and "Scale"- my mind boggled when a geological microbiologist told me that the estimated biomass of bacteria within the Earth's rocks exceeds the biomass of biological material on the surface itself.
No wonder we are so keen to sample the Martian rocks
