Yes I did - still seems to be some confusion over the numbers of 32 and 30C days though. All should become clear once the August DWS are published. 

So 2026 has the 5th ,6th and 8th hottest days . Not bad.

Since this is a record numbers of 30C plus days no media or reporter reporting from the location simply because it not London.   Meanwhile here sunny and warm 28.1C as it maxed at 28.5C far nicer today no humid this time.

I don't think the travel expenses to Thorney Island could be justified by a journey there for a just-over 30°C day in a summer with what? Nearly 40 of these? Wouldn't be room on the news anyway Jiries, with the country up in flames.

I think you are missing the point i believe Jires is making. Although Thorney is a rather remote rural coastal location and it's over 30C it is in the vicinity of large built up areas which will almost certainly be hotter in places thanks to urbanisation.

Thorney Island reached 30.6C according to the Netweather tracker. I make that 38 days of 30C+ too but I think the Met have found an extra two somewhere. They tweeted on Wednesday 12th saying it was 37 days, and then we have also had Thursday, Friday and Saturday so that makes 40 days.

We've had quite a few 29s recently so maybe some manual sites have hit 30c.

Car thermometer reading 30.5C or 31C in various places between Chichester and Portsmouth this afternoon including passing by Thorney Island so I'm not surprised at the reading there, And Wiggonholt, another local and sheltered location, didn't look/feel in the least dodgy.

Incidentally, if you want to walk round Thorney on the public coastal foot path, it is still a military area. When I did so, a few years back. you had to stop at a gate and show your face to a camera before the control room would unlock it remotely for you., and then check out again on the way out.  Still in force AFAIK.

Both Thorney Island and Wiggonholt maxed at 30.6C. The reason I thought it looked dodgy is that it rose from 25.2 up to 28.9 and then back down to 27.0 in successive hourly readings. But it does look OK in the end.

So, maybe 40 days of 30C now?

Fair point. There were occasional random gusts of wind around here today but I wouldn't have thought enough to cause this sort of variation.

I get that sort of variation all the time on my weather stations, almost always as the wind shifts. Kent and Sussex in particular I think have a tendency for this, with coasts, linear downs and a patchwork of forest and open land. 

Happens all the time down here on the south coast, and it's often amplified in the urban areas. 

Yes and one to watch, some one other side already dismissing it but remember many was dismissing it on GFS showing the recent heatwave, they kept dismissing it to the day which prove them wrong when it reached 38.1c and my garden was 38.7 as GFS was showing 38-39 in the Midlands.  Very dry run with few rain spikes never higher than 1mm which mean nothing, had a 2mm spike for yesterday when it was sunny and dry.   

Mid 20s is a crap week? It would be brilliant in an average summer, and a pleasant relief in this one. Looking forward to it myself, humidity dependant.

When I see some more models showing it, I'll call heatwave No7. I reckon we've got 10 days before it shows. 🙂🙂🙂
