Ironically, the end of the 1976 drought marked the introduction of Minister of Drought Dennis Howell, when it was about to rain Biblical (and it would have been in the forecast at that range).

Yes, looking very wet on ECM as well.  The govt taking action has done a repeat of 1976 with the heavens opening.

35.9C here. Second hottest of the year after the 36.1C on June 24th. Weather forecast mentioned threat of heavy downpours here in the early hours. I'll believe that when I see it.

This was the afterthought heatwave, at the back end of the summer. The one nobody paid much attention to. Yet it hit 38.1C. 

And then, today was surely the afterthought of the afterthought. The one after everyone had packed up their heatwave hampers and headed to the exit. Yet it delivered nearly 36C.

I notice when we have a heatwave it mentioned on the media but when the far east got the last crumb of heat like today nothing mentioned on the media, didn't see them reporting at Norfolk area showing the heat. they treated the east as a nothing special place and ignored them when they are on the last part of the heat.  for me I always believe Kent supposed to be the place that get the heat first from the continent and last at the end but nowadays the west like Wales get it first then transfer to the east which become weaker and much short lived.   Kent used to be the warmest place in the past.

The heatwave leaves here with a sting in the tail, an exceptionally warm night. The overnight low was 20.0 exactly, for around 2 minutes! Tropical nights are very rare here.

Since it gone dead quiet in MO and other side Mo thread, it time for us to chase for heatwave 7 in early September to make a nice finish fittings for summer 2026.  1 in May, 1 in June, 2 in July and 2 in August so another one in Sept.
