This was the afterthought heatwave, at the back end of the summer. The one nobody paid much attention to. Yet it hit 38.1C.

And then, today was surely the afterthought of the afterthought. The one after everyone had packed up their heatwave hampers and headed to the exit. Yet it delivered nearly 36C.

Didnt get the alert.  Must have switched off alerts though dont remember doing so

GFS control seems to have a hurricane on its way to us!

Yes, looking very wet on ECM as well.  The govt taking action has done a repeat of 1976 with the heavens opening.

Still 22c here with high humidity so very uncomfortable.

Perhaps the last tropical night of the season though if the models are correct.  Thank God

The heatwave leaves here with a sting in the tail, an exceptionally warm night. The overnight low was 20.0 exactly, for around 2 minutes! Tropical nights are very rare here.

Since it gone dead quiet in MO and other side Mo thread, it time for us to chase for heatwave 7 in early September to make a nice finish fittings for summer 2026.  1 in May, 1 in June, 2 in July and 2 in August so another one in Sept.

Certainly no let up here of the heatwave, albeit frustratingly from a records perspective we "only" reached 29.9c today.

Illegal cloud pegged us back from mid-afternoon.
