Just woke up thirsty and went downstairs to make a drink. The difference between the bedroom and landing is more stark than any time so far this summer. It’s absolutely sweltering on the landing and downstairs

Temperature has shot up 4C in last hour or so.. currently around 23C outside.

Also since mid June only a handful of days have failed to reach 25C and less than 10 nights have managed to drop below 15C. I've lost count of the amount of days above 28C here which coincidentally doesn't feel all that bad now, and even the 30C of a couple of days ago felt fine despite dew points in upper teens.

The first autumn chills are going to hit us hard - definitely we'll be living up to the soft southerners 🤣

Edit: currently a widespread frost across Lapland - it is coming.

Models seem to have converged on 37C as the max today, the extreme 38-39 figures have gone. Interesting to see whether the June max gets beaten. My feeling is probably not quite.

I am glad I don't live in the far east is very boring place to live and their heat is very limited and always last place to get the heat which is very short lived compare to West, Midlands and London areas last longer.

21.3c this morning but no sweat overnight sleeping as it low humidity at 38%.

I’ve got a dew point of 20.7C and 70% humidity down at the vineyard. What happened to that dangerously dry fire weather?

EDIT: And just as I posted it came back online, 21.1/dew 20.1 now with a very light waft from the east. MetO has that waft/humid airmass in place for most of the day (with temperatures rising and humidity falling into the afternoon as the wind veers southerly), but it'll only go so far inland.

Some absolutely amazing footage on socials of the parched landscape of places like Hyde Park and around the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Just incredible and captivating.

When this summer weather finally ends (long way to go yet) it’ll be almost a relief to not log in to TWO for 5 months until the reload next spring ahead of another virtually guaranteed hotter than average year

Even autumn and winter this year look mild and wet at this stage. What’s not to like? The Band Aid mob get their rain to save the Pretend famine, and the likes of myself get the mild.

Impressive.

Actually I just noted Merignac (Bordeaux) was 37°C at 11am. Same heatwave, different place.

Charlwood probably still overreading with 35.2C already.

Plenty of places with readings hotter than UKV at 11am though
