Quite alot of 36Cs around. We should go above 37C today at least, but I think 2003, 2019 and 2022 are looking safe.

Temp is wobbling about a bit here - 34.8c today's high, currently 32.4c after a drop when it turned cloudier.  Overnight low was 20.3c, warmest of the spell and living room started the day at 26.4c.

I had thought that hottest 3-day spell was 1990 with 36.6, 37.1, 36.1 (average 36.6) but in fact on looking again, 17-19 July 2022 beats it with 33.0, 38.2, 40.3 (average 37.17).

Currently we have 36.1, 36.7, 36.1 so some way short. (Max official site so far is 36.1 at Cranwell which is another flippin' RAF base!)

Still I'll settle for 2nd hottest 3 day period ever!

There's some hefty CN bubbled up from nothing just to my west. It's gone cloudy here but still dry but believe parts of Liverpool have got heavy rain - and I can hear 'distant rumbles'.

Curiously, it felt like the heant and/or humidity really ramped up from about an hour ago.

Currently 32c here, although 33c at Manc Airport.

Pretty much been on or around 33.3c for the last hour or more, the humidity down at 34%/DP at 15.8c and a reasonable breeze is making it feel slightly better than the last few days here

Doesn't feel less hot, though (sun came back out, but now cloudy again). Think the cooler air is still just to the west; the coastal fringes if the Irish Sea are now reporting temps down into the high 20's.

It's been roasting day and night where I live and 36c today and I'm not in the Red zone either. Makes zero sense.

Surely Bishops Stortford is not many miles out the Red Zone so you have to allosome leeway?

Seems to me that the SErn corner is far more favourable for extreme heat than the areas that got it yesterday.

But the plume today is more of a glancing blow. If yesterday's heat was further east then it would be a couple of degrees warmer.
