Interesting that from a few days ago, what looked like a nailed on flip to unsettled weather from Friday onward, does not look the case any more. A cool down, but summer continues.

I know many on this site disregard Jersey’s validity when looking at weather data.  Regardless, we are 28c at 8.30 am, forecast to be 38c today, then 37, 38 for the next two days.  Many schools closing, lots of the same warnings that the UK have in place.  We missed the storms yesterday and so the temperature will respond very quickly to the continental feed.  Unprecedented.

The iPhone app uses the IBM model I believe and also feeds in radar information for real time rain predictions.

But it is clearly not infallible either as it shows full sun all day here when in reality the sky is very moody.

Was already 25°C at 7.50 this morning, then a few heavy drops from some spurious cloud, not enough to really wet anything but the petrichor was something.

The 39 forecast for Thursday here (Met) now dropped to 37.

But the temp for each of Fri, Sat, Sun has been increased.

That's a pay-off I can proper get behind 😃

Arome shows 36C today on the low res plots. Quite possibly a few 37Cs in the grib, but I don't have the time to check.

Yes  lots of cloud here too, and storms still bubbling up

I'd be surprised if London got to 33c today tbh. Maybe further west will go higher but the June record looks safe today.

Met office app for here: 34c, 33, 37c, 37c, then cooling nicely over the weekend and into next week.😎

Post heatwave, EMS look farily cool to average.

Does anyone know the highest temperature in Norfolk? Great Yarmouth and Cromer have 37/38 in Aperge/UKV which seems pretty astounding.

Thunder in the vicinity now here, and more rain coming soon on the radar. Epic bust of a forecast this one for today

Back to this week and the Met Office forecast has dropped from 38/40/40 a couple of days ago to 35/36/38. And it's still wrong as it has full sun symbols when in fact it is 7/8 overcast across most of the south.

I remember previous record-breaking days were already pushing 30C by 9am but it's just 24C here at the moment and the highest 9am reading anywhere in the country is 27C in Cornwall (excluding Jersey). Having an amber warning for heat just seems like a bad joke at the moment!

I was awake at around 5am when we had a thunderstorm with heavy rain here, and we've just had another small one that started appearing on the radar from nothing about an hour ago.

Still lot of clouds here and there no heatwave anywhere and only 22C outside now as not rising due to little sun, just a bog standard warm spell today for most.

A definition of a heatwave mean no rain, no clouds and full sun from sunrise to sunset.  Now already 10am and lost 5 hours for temps to rise.  Just a bog standard warm to hot cloudy spell for most.  I hope the easterly winds to occur to clear this skies up.
