Checking the radar I can see Lincolnshire is in the "eye" of the storm, as we quite often seem to be. An old friend used to term it "The Horseshoe Round the Wash". It is certainly looking dramatic, and I think we will get a good rattling this afternoon.

There has been 24.4 mm of rain here so far with more to come along with the stronger winds this afternoon. A very unpleasant day of weather.

Local radio has said there are a lot of roads impassable because of fallen trees. Cornwall has 2000 homes without power whilst Devon has 11.500.

Been out for a wander and there are plenty of small branches down with a couple of older trees. Probably 10mph off being really disruptive here - though that being said there are a few local power cuts, blocked roads etc.

Currently living at roughly 65m asl North of Cowbridge in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Formerly of, Birdlip, highest village in the Cotswolds and snow heaven in winter; Hawkinge in Kent - roof of the South downs and Isles of Scilly, paradise in the UK.

Was hoping earlier in the week that everything would align perfectly but it looks like higher ground of the Highlands only.

Storm Arwen in 2021 was a good one though , 4 inches of wet snow in about 2 hours as the low cleared.

A good barometer is wheely bins strewn across gardens, but not one in view. Even my one dodgy bit of fence didn’t bat an eyelid and I’d resigned myself to having to replace that next week

Since this morning's wind is coming in from the west, thankfully the nearby hilly built up bit appears to be doing a good job in sheltering my little harbourside house from the worst of the gustiness. Also a relatively dryish affair (so far) with only 0.4 mm since yesterday evening, this morning even started off quite sunny but now grown more overcast with light spitty rain blowing about in the air.

Gusting 70mph here, likely stronger at the beach but not ventured there (yet). Large sycamore down and blocking access to a nearby lane and a few fences over (not mine). Still rattling through at the moment, seems a touch more than Eunice - the last time we had a RED wind warning.

Disappointing for you, then, even if everyone else would be glad to have lower winds than forecast!

It's only just begun here... standard strong SW'lies at the moment, plenty of whooshes and creaks, with gusts generally in the 40s (models have low 50s instead, so overcooking it by about 7 mph). The models all show a sharp ramp up to mid to high 50s in the next 3 hours, then it plateaus for the rest of the morning. Can't say I'm looking forward to it!

The good news, if any, is that tonight's NW'lies/northerlies have decreased a bit, staying in the high 40s rather than the mid 50s.

Hope those in the west are faring okay...

It was quite blowy here at around 8am ish but has calmed a bit, no roaring between our house and the neighbours, for now and we currently have drizzle with breezy conditions. The cloud isn't as uniform as it was an hour or so ago but that will no doubt change in the next few hours.
