I understand the emergency alert phone system will be activated this evening for transmitter cells in the Red warning area.

Let’s see if it works better than the test a while ago.

Looking seasonal on Cairngorm https://www.cairngormmountain.co.uk/live-webcams/

It’s just a bit damp here just now but there’s lots of rain to come and then windy conditions later tomorrow.

Not much sign of  sting jet as of yet on the WV imagery. Hard to say if even one will develop.

In the pub when everyone’s phones went off ….and we’re just outside the red !  Still clearing up after Bert , so fingers crossed this is a false ‘alert’.

Pretty bad outside already though !

This alert was sent to Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, City of, Devon, North Somerset, Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

Surrounding areas might also have received the alert.

So, the alerts are being sent by council area which are different to met locations. It makes sense as it warns drivers who might be heading into the alert area.

I was on a dog walk this morning and crossed between amber and red areas and got the red warning alert on the met app which disappeared on my return - although I could see it still in the full warmings list. However, I doubt a few hundred meters in my area will make much difference to the outcome but lines have to be drawn somewhere.

Just finished up securing around the garden as I have been out all day.  Now damp, slightly battered and ready for a nice cuppa.  We are 3 miles from the coast between Banwell and Weston super Mare, so right in the 'sweet' spot.  We have the Kewstoke ridge to the north and a spur from the Mendips to the south both aligned West to East.  So we are at he narrow end of huge funnel which begins between Ireland and Cornwall, continues between the South Wales mountains and Exmoor before crossing the coast into this valley.   When its a pleasant day with a WNW breeze across most of the South we often get mauled by something approaching a gale which I affectionately call the 'Banwell Buster'.  I have always feared a set up like this one

'Bracing' might be an understatement for the conditions tomorrow morning and certainly not an overstatement for my state of mind at the moment.   Hoping to be all intact by this time tomorrow!
