The first 8 I've seen forecast this year via the MetO - it's a shame they removed the "map" forecast, as that was a much easier way of spotting them. (It may well have gone by the time you click the link!)

Do you get negative values? Just asking…🤣

This article talks about values of over 30 once you get up to much higher altitudes in Tibet, and over 15 in winter. Pretty crazy for sure.

Cusco Peru has been known to have UV25 - obviously altitude plays a large part but it's not as high has the one I linked above. Above is actually a snow covered mountain so that might explain why it's much higher than surrounding locations.

I read that, following a nuclear exchange, the soot ejected into the stratosphere would create super-warming there, destroying the ozone layer.
UV index values across most of the world would be at/over 35.

Lots of 8s in the MetO forecast but none materialised yet as far as I can see. Chilton has had 5 7s recently (23-26 and 29) but Reading has been stuck in the 6s.
Camborne probably getting some higher values but not publishing graphs regularly. Disappointing.
UV 9 in the UK albeit the Isle of Scilly
Leeds not far away from a 9 today, Camborne over and Chilton leading the way with a 9.5 or 9.6 - is that approaching a UK record?

Just checked out 9 for Weymouth too. Must be a few along the south coast.
Worth a watch.
The 9s didn't materialise and we have to go back to 2nd July for the last 8+ (8.3) with just a few 7s since. Only notable was a 7.4 on 1st August. Might get a late 7 on Wednesday or Thursday but 5s and 6s are probably the best order of the day for the remainder of summer.
