Peak UV season now behind us, and the dreadful July leaves a trail of disappointing readings at Chilton (Reading seems to have given up the ghost).
The 9s didn't materialise and we have to go back to 2nd July for the last 8+ (8.3) with just a few 7s since. Only notable was a 7.4 on 1st August. Might get a late 7 on Wednesday or Thursday but 5s and 6s are probably the best order of the day for the remainder of summer.

Interesting to see GFS ekes out a UV 7 here on Sunday... that's got to be very unusual, 2 months out from the solstice!

Some places in the south are forecast a 7 on the MetO site today. That is high for this late in the month.

Chilton an impressive 5.5 on 14th but the last 4s were on 21st, 23rd and 24th (all 4.0)

1.3 in Reading and expect it to grow steadily over the next few weeks. I understand this is not a pop thread but occasionally high UV events occur especially in spring and early summer and I want to track and share.

Looking back at last year (which wasn't great for sun/UV) the 1st 2 was mid-Feb and then a 3 pretty much a month later.

Hoping for some sunshine today. With angle at solar noon edging towards 25° we could get to the top end of band one.

I note Camborne has had 4+ on 22nd and 24th March (4.2 tops).
The glorious late March of 2012 of course saw three 4+ readings even in Reading, with 4.3 on 28th.

Still not as notable as the 7.6 on May 9th before the good summer of 2018 - the earliest top reading annually I can see.

I’m over in Ibiza at the moment and presumed we were about 6 here but it must be way higher then… looks like it was a 8 here - back to the UK tomorrow so one last morning to top up the D.

UV index forecasts are now on the TWO 16 day forecasts for the first 5 days. Just expand the day to see the maximum value:

https://www.theweatheroutlook.com/forecast/uk/london

I'll try and add UV into the UKV based hourly forecasts soon if I've got enough data left:
