Interesting to see GFS ekes out a UV 7 here on Sunday... that's got to be very unusual, 2 months out from the solstice!

Retire while you can still press the 'retire now' button.
No not really. Atmospheric ozone is typically much lower in later summer months allowing for increased amounts of UV. Also a less known fact is we're closer to the sun in mid August then we were in late June.
Chilton an impressive 5.5 on 14th but the last 4s were on 21st, 23rd and 24th (all 4.0)

Reading publishing again. 1.4 yesterday best since 24th November.
Re-found this. Copied from my replacement thread which I will close. Apologies.

Looking back at last year (which wasn't great for sun/UV) the 1st 2 was mid-Feb and then a 3 pretty much a month later.

MetO predicting a 5 for S Hampshire & Dorset on Sunday.
Much though I dislike this time of year (much prefer watching the numbers tick down instead of up), there's a 5 forecast IMBY tomorrow:

Remember though the MetO rounds up, and does so from 0.1 - so that 5 could be anywhere from 4.1 to 5.0 should it come off!
A good point- but 4.1 would be nice enough- a Vit D anti-depressant without blisters!
The glorious late March of 2012 of course saw three 4+ readings even in Reading, with 4.3 on 28th.
Still not as notable as the 7.6 on May 9th before the good summer of 2018 - the earliest top reading annually I can see.

I'll try and add UV into the UKV based hourly forecasts soon if I've got enough data left:

At Winchester just a 7 still.
I note that in Reading they've so far recorded just a 4 but 6.2 at Chilton.
