Dry? Above average temperatures? At least in the south?

Yes, yes and yes.

Always nice when an op run shows very pleasant weather despite being a cold outlier.

Actually it looks drier and warmer than average, albeit with a little rain in places at times, for most places away from parts of the NW.

Replying to your post it depend on the area and even I don't have a recorder but in here well below 100 hours, most during the coming days to 19th.  I hope August bring bac to over 200 again that you expect in summer.

Seeing the charts myself it great news that the HP go a bit north as was the norm in the 80's when HP move in that way and then sink slowly over us, slowly again to EU that give us a heatwave, this set-up give us up to 2 weeks sunny and settled weather before a bang in the past.

Well below 100 hours would be remarkable give the duration statistics in other parts of England even the Midlands so far this month. The only stations I can see that are well below 100 hours are in NW Scotland.

It is and it a record dullest month, most days os 0-30mins, there no early or late sunshine like June did which was well over 100 but this month none at all.   Did not see the sun rise or set since 19th and no sun today only brightness that won't record it.

If you see 12z early August looking sunnier as HP move to Scandi at last so that give us East to SE flow and many sunny days so should rack up to over 100 hrs by 2nd week of August here. Look very warm to hot at British summer temps of mid 20's to 30C there about.  Glad there no plume on this run as plume always deliver weeks of cloudy weather after it leaves.

I don't know whether you saw this as the final post in the last thread

Weather online gives total hours of sunshine at Heathrow as 212.2 for June and 204.6 for July with a day to go (link is so long it'll screw up the formatting here - Google <hours of sunshine London> and scroll down to <climate robot>)

MetO blog says average sunshine for England for June 2022 was 220.9 hours, or 118 % of average, and similar % for other parts of the UK except Northern Ireland, well below average

 https://blog.metoffice.gov.uk/2022/07/01/june-extends-run-of-warm-months/

It certainly feels like a good 200 hours here. Do you need to change your location from Galley Common to Mull or Londonderry? Warwickshire according to the MetO map has had close to average sunshine for June.

Yes it locked so cant reply there and I am in Nuneaton which have no official station but average temps is 22C while London 24C.  I assumed average sun hours is around 180 but this month was very low and only 2 days exceed 10 hrs rest 0 o 30 mins and very few reached 5 or less hrs.   Hard to believe but really very dullest month than last Jan totals.  August look likely a much better month so far from what I see and enable to see sun rise and set since 19th.

If you use the MetO detailed obs map (if you haven't got it bookmarked https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/observation, put in a location, scroll down and select detailed obs map) they have released this morning a new beta version for comment; there's a link to it from the existing map.

Much improved IMO with a wider field of view (most of Europe), a longer timescale (past as well as future) and help for the colour-blind like me with an 'accessible colours' option.

Sorry for the convoluted access but if I put in the link to the map I'm looking at, then from experience its length with all the geographical data of my location is longer than the formatting for this forum can cope with.

Edit - link incorrectly copied - use https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/observation/map

Difficult to believe that Nuneaton is so different to all the areas around it. Are the readings from your own weather station? Check its location and operation?

For something a bit different the models for here in Perth have a deep low pressure which is going to be slow moving over the next 3 days. We are expected to have 3 days of gales with gusts of around 60 mph with frequent heavy showers and thunderstorms. Quite unusual for us to have such a long sustained period of gales.

WX summary temps show a slight cooling over N Europe over the next two weeks, most noticeable over Finland & N Scandinavia. However heat continues to push up through France and regains a foothold in S England in week 2, 'even' Scotland looking moderately warm. Rainfall predictions continue to vary; currently rain in Scotland and Scandinavia week 1, in E Europe week 2, with a much enlarged very dry area in week 2 covering Spain, France, all of Britain and across the N Sea.

GFS Op shows LP affecting mainly Scotland to Wed 3rd, moving away and replaced by HP ridging from Azores to N Sea, eventually centred over Britain 1030mb Tue 9th. Pressure then stays high (with a tendency for the centre to be located in Scotland) through to Tue 16th. The end-of-run LP noted yesterday has now been written out.

GEFS temps rising to warm Wed 3rd, dropping below norm for a couple of days Sat 6th, then progressively warmer through to Tue 16th. Very dry in the S, also in Scotland after a wet couple of days around the 3rd.

ECM resembles GFS Op

I just tried that link, but it just leads to a 404 Page Not Found error.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

High pressure all the way this morning.  Just variations on where it ends up. ECM cooler than the other models. GEM and GFS look hot.

No I dont have it here just max and min thermometer only used during interesting temperatures days.  I dont want to invest expensive station for few interesting events a year. If you cant believe how dull in here there nothing I can do about it. Jan stick more in my mind how sunnier than month.  August first half part look good from your daily post.
