This thread might have some high temps in the next week .
22c downstairs and 23c upstairs at the moment, this as a result of 22-24c max outside over the last few days.

Could have made it cooler by having the windows open more, as evenings have been relatively cool.

Similar to the above currently, but hopefully our Victorian terrace with no south facing windows will stay coolish today.

The science of when to close windows and open them again will be tested to the hilt the next week.

When I went to bed last night it was 29.8C in my living room/bedroom. As you’d imagine sleeping was very difficult.

With 4 nights this week with overnight lows of just 19C the indoor temperatures are going to be high here, and that's going to be coupled with the humidity.

20c in lounge, 22c in bedrooms, 28c outside

Thank goodness we installed air conditioning last year, so much better than trying to sleep in a bedroom that feels like a sauna.

One perk of getting the electrics sorted for a car charger is that I'll be able to get a proper a/c unit installed in due course - hopefully in time for next summer. That said, a 14K BTU portable one did an admirable job last night, the downside is that it won't turn on if it's more than 35C!

Talking of which, it was 33C upstairs when I got in, 24.5 downstairs and 28C outside.

A couple of hours later, it's still 24.5C downstairs (those new windows are doing a super job of keeping the heat out), while upstairs it's 30.2 in the back bedroom (with the windows open) and 24.0C in my bedroom (with the a/c running for the past 2 hours).

I ordered a portable ac and should be here by Wednesday.

Mostly for use in the bedroom for sleep mainly.

Reached 21c in the hall today which is quite warm for this house as it is normally around 16c. The benefits of old farmhouses

So, as luck would have it I'm off work today. The mission is to keep the house cooler indoors than it was yesterday, but it's not going to be easy!

Currently 15.7C outside, but no wind whatsoever.

Indoors it's 23.5C downstairs, the windows have been open all night (so starting from a relatively high level).

Upstairs, again with the windows open, it's 25C... aside from my bedroom, where it's 21C (as I had the a/c on all night).

The plan is to keep the windows open all the time it's more than 1C cooler outside, then I'll close them. I'll keep the a/c on today once I close the windows, even though it'll cost a small fortune, in the hope it'll help moderate temperatures indoors somewhat.

TBH I've no idea how to keep things cool IF it gets to 40C, or even close to it. There's usually a few hours' grace before the inside warms up to the outside temperature, but these muggy, warm nights aren't helping much!

EDIT: Patio doors wide open, fan on the patio blowing into the living room. It's gone from 23.5 to 22 in the space of 10 minutes in there.
