I may well think about getting air-conditioning for the upstairs of my house at some point.

Awful trying to sleep in that heat. Worst I had was when we had a full on week of 35C and over in 2020 - It got to 32C upstairs in my house.

Diabolical that was.

TBH the air-source heat-pump marketers are missing a trick here - an ideal system would include the ability to run in reverse, i.e. act as an a/c in summer as well as providing heating in winter.

It's noteworthy that several posters on here now either have or are considering a/c - a sign that I'm not alone in finding temperatures in the high 20s and upwards unbearable for sleeping! I'm on my third portable a/c now, the first one died and I gave the second to a friend as it wasn't powerful enough. The latest one did a sterling job in the heat a couple of days ago.

No need for a/c today, however. I got it down to 23C both up and downstairs yesterday before closing the windows (just as well with all that torrential rain) and this morning, with all the windows open, it's a pleasant 19C both up and down.

That cold and strong NE'ly wind with outside temperatures of 12c took its toll on the house overnight.

21.5c in the hallway this morning having lost 3.4c degrees since yesterday noon when it was a toasty 24.9c.

More warmth this week so hopefully we can keep it above 21c during todays 'blip'

I must have Scottish blood in me somewhere - as those temperatures sound ideal to me!

19C downstairs and 19.3C upstairs, the windows have been open all day. Perfect.

There are several systems that do exactly that. I haven't looked into them in detail but I imagine you would need a full HVAC system to make use of them. But they certainly do exist. In fact I remember reading that all air source heat pumps actually operate in reverse part of the time, in order to defrost themselves.

Interesting, as I suspect they'd have a broader appeal if the running-in-reverse aspect were mentioned more.

26C incidentally when I came in today, although of course the windows have been closed all day. It's now down to 24C... still a bit warm. Hopefully it'll continue to cool down before I go to bed.

They aren’t missing a trick with ASHP’s.  They can be installed for cooling as well as heating.

22 to 24C as it been sunny today and the recent cold weather did not drop it lower than that due to heat stored from last Friday did a trick, opened window at lunch time for a short while with air vent opened.  With this warmer weather coming back will open again to increase it to mid 20's.  Overall it been very comfortable and no chill feeling.

23°C to 25°C indoors currently. Rather unpleasant and there’s not much of a breeze to cool things down.

End of June now with no central heating input since early May.

Ambient temperature in the house sits around 21.5c to 22.0c on cloudy days outside at the moment.

Nicely comfortable indoors now and hopefully another 10 weeks before we start to drop back into the 'getting chilly' category.

Same as Gusty say on his post and here around 21-22C with windows been firmly shut with 1 or 2 hour opening in the bathroom after shower to dry out the steams.  Most had gone to 22-23C in the morning or evening when sun come out after nasty cloudy all day type.  I still hope for warm to hot Sept and warm October to keep heating off as long as possible, last heating was 5th May.

I managed to get it down to 16C last night before bed (with the portable a/c); it of course went up quickly after I turned it off an hour later, but even so it hovered around 20C. I slept like a log as a result - brilliant for July!

21.2c this morning, despite a cool and slightly breezy night.

I'm working from home today with a T shirt on. All very comfortable with the sunshine streaming through the east facing windows.
