The latest rainfall data for Edinburgh Gogarbank (shown as station 1 below) and the botanic gardens in Edinburgh (shown below as station 2) is as follows:

24 Hour Rainfall Total Up To 09:00 UTC (10am BST) This morning: 1.0 mm at Station 1, 1.0 mm at Station 2

Total Amount For May 2021 So Far: 39.8 mm (81.2 % of LTA) at station 1, 33.6 mm (68.7 % of LTA) at station 2
Number of Rain Days During May 2021 So Far: 4 (35.1 % of LTA) at station 1, 5 (52.1 % of LTA) at station 2
Number of Dry Days During May 2021 So Far: 2 at station 1, 1 at station 2

This means that a minimum total of at least 9.4 mm of rain now needs to fall at Edinburgh Gogarbank between now and the end of this month in order for this month to go down as being wetter than average there in terms of the actual rainfall amounts.

This also means that a minimum total of at least 15.4 mm of rain now needs to fall at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh between now and the end of this month in order for this month to go down as being wetter than average there in terms of the actual rainfall amounts.

Furthermore, a minimum total of least 5 more official rain days need to occur at the botanic gardens between now and the end of this month in order for this month to go down as being wetter than average in terms of the number of rain days.

Total Amount During This Spring So Far: 93.0 mm (61.6 % of LTA) at station 1, 74.0 mm (52.4 % of LTA) at station 2
Number of Rain Days During This Spring So Far: 16 (48.5 % of LTA) at station 1, 18 (63.6 % of LTA) at station 2
Number of Dry Days During This Spring So Far: 40 at station 1, 38 at station 2

Yesterday's rainfall amounts were very low for such a major weather system and if the rainfall totals for this spring are to have a chance of recovering to anything which is even close to the respective 1981-2010 spring average for each of those stations, we need to be doing a lot better than that.

Total Amount During This Year So Far: 246.8 mm (32.7 % of LTA) at station 1, 235.6 mm (33.5 % of LTA) at station 2
Number of Rain Days During This Year So Far: 44 (32.0 % of LTA) at station 1, 47 (37.8 % of LTA) at station 2
Number of Dry Days During This Year So Far: 59 at station 1, 55 at station 2

LTA = 1981-2010 average for the month, season or year in question at the particular station in question.

All of this data has been taken from SEPA with each observation day starting and ending on 09:00 UTC on each day.

41.6mm already from this vile month which is resembling a poor November rather than the best month of the year it is supposed to be

54.4mm since the 26th April. An absolutely horrific spell which has not produced any really wet days just persistently horrible and unpleasant write-off conditions day after day. Not a single dry day since the 25th April with two trace days. Highest daily total just 9.4mm.

Appalling and puts this spring on course to be the first since 2006 to be wetter than average. That would make four wetter than average seasons in a row and with the state of summer these days five is pretty much a banker

Running 12-month total at 885.6mm - 150mm above average and the highest it's reached since August 2016

Up to 64mm with today's showers. At least I think so, it's been quite difficult to track with showers all the time.

The latest rainfall data for Edinburgh Gogarbank (shown as station 1 below) and the botanic gardens in Edinburgh (shown below as station 2) is as follows:

24 Hour Rainfall Total Up To 09:00 UTC (10am BST) This morning: 6.6 mm at Station 1, 6.6 mm at Station 2 and it is still raining here as I write, so those figures could end up being even higher than what I have reported here.

Total Amount For May 2021 So Far: 50.2 mm (102.4 % of LTA) at station 1, 42.2 mm (86.3 % of LTA) at station 2
Number of Rain Days During May 2021 So Far: 6 (52.6 % of LTA) at station 1, 7 (72.9 % of LTA) at station 2
Number of Dry Days During May 2021 So Far: 2 at station 1, 2 at station 2

This means that more rain has now fallen at Edinburgh Gogarbank during this month than the 1981-2010 May average for that particular station and so this month will now go down as being wetter than average there in terms of the actual rainfall amounts regardless of what happens there between now and the end of this month, and we're still not even halfway through this month yet.

This also means that a minimum total of at least 6.8 mm of rain now needs to fall at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh between now and the end of this month in order for this month to go down as being wetter than average there in terms of the actual rainfall amounts.

Furthermore, a minimum total of least 3 more official rain days need to occur at the botanic gardens between now and the end of this month in order for this month to go down as being wetter than average in terms of the number of rain days.

Total Amount During This Spring So Far: 103.4 mm (68.5 % of LTA) at station 1, 82.6 mm (58.5 % of LTA) at station 2
Number of Rain Days During This Spring So Far: 18 (54.5 % of LTA) at station 1, 20 (70.7 % of LTA) at station 2
Number of Dry Days During This Spring So Far: 40 at station 1, 39 at station 2

Despite the fact that March was drier than average with April being one of our driest Aprils in a row for the second year running, there is an outside chance that this spring could still actually end up being wetter than average in the end if this current wet spell carries on until the end of this month.

Total Amount During This Year So Far: 257.2 mm (34.1 % of LTA) at station 1, 244.2 mm (34.7 % of LTA) at station 2
Number of Rain Days During This Year So Far: 46 (33.5 % of LTA) at station 1, 49 (39.5 % of LTA) at station 2
Number of Dry Days During This Year So Far: 59 at station 1, 56 at station 2

Edit to say just had another potent shower so add another 5mm to that.
