Snizzle
Better than nothing
drip drip drip, all melting now
Climate change snow. At least we got to see some this year, the last two winters we didnt even have a frost
7cm was the total and pretty much all of that fell within an hour and 40 minutes with some light snow falling for a while after that. It arrived at the perfect time landing on frozen surfaces all roads except treated main ones got covered. Had a great morning out in it with the kids sledging and throwing snowballs. Really hope this doesn’t become a thing of the past in England.
Thaw is well under way now but I don’t really care. We had proper snow at last this winter.
The band will probably stall around Nottingham (snowing in south Notts now), pivot slightly then head south again as a weakening feature later.
Here in SE Gloucestershire it snowed for about two hours between 7am and 9am and put down a couple of inches.
Just got back from a long walk out in the local countryside near The Thames and it was beautiful to see but there was a substantial hazard in the form of snow covering thin ice over floodwater and mud.
On returning to the town it was great to see all the snowmen appearing!
Got very heavy for a time but only about 2cm
Snowing steadily again here but the temp is now 1.2C and DP 0C. Currently about 7cm on the ground and I still haven't completely given up on beating the 8.5cm snow I recorded here on February 1st 2019. Bit of a bake if we don't get there TBH.
Just over 9cm lying here. Snow has turned lighter in last 5-10 minutes.....certainly the best effort in the last 3 years!
Oh wait, I think I can see the odd icy splodges in the cold rain, unless those were just big fat droplets blowing about in the brisk south wind. Either or, I'm recording 2.4 mm of rain so far today anyway.
Snowing well again here, two days In a row ! White over now, about 1-2cm so far, might be more to come if it pivots over us here. Nice to see so many getting a covering today 👍
Edit: now heavy snow
About 5CM-8CM around these parts, not bad as last winter was quite poor for the West Midlands. An enjoyable day with everyone out walking, and not too much travel disruption (as should be expected in lockdown).
