A shower here earlier on gave 1-2cm cover now rather slushy. However something pretty potent is coming on the radar....

Nothing here overnight, all slipped to my south. Like Col says though there is something incoming. Currently 0C at the Airport so hopefully snow.

Heavy snow continues, the trough reminds me of Xmas 2004 in the way it has aligned.

From December 27th 2020, zonality will be banned from mixing with the UK. We appreciate that this may come as a shock to younger people and old Uncle Barty. This ban will last for a minimum of ten days.

There is a very large area of precipitation around the Mersey estuary coming your way. Will last for a fair while.

The radar shows us under precipitation but there is nothing really falling at present, so false radar shadows despite us under the orange. Very frustrating.

Moderate snow falling. Starting to cover the surfaces that had melted from the earlier shower.

You need to remember with snow that it takes a considerably longer time to reach the surface than rain.

Thanks Gusty, but it was over us for an hour, long enough I think. I actually think the radar is slightly off point, we now have heavy hail stork which looked on the radar like it would miss us to the south. That has whitened things up again, blue sky incoming.

Euro 4 was showing some sort of snowmageddon in parts of the NW a day ago.  A good example of those model forecasts being so wrong most of the time.Hopefully you will catch a good fall very soon!

This equals our heaviest snowfall for about 4 yrs

Yes indeed but there have been some intense radar echoes over Blackpool, hopefully heading my way.

Persistent heavy snizzle. Loads of flakes but very small. Only about 1cm covering and this chunk of PPN will pass us soon. More echoes in the Irish Sea, though, so fingers crossed.

We've had a lot of snowfalls since March 2013, but none have approached the 10cm mark (what I guess is my threshold for a good fall); all have been in that dusting-to-3cm bracket.

Been snowing for an hour or so. It’s really struggling to gather any real intensity for some reason. We had a few minutes of big flakes but it’s mostly small flakes. Only really a light dusting on cars and grassed areas.
