Denver now has  a high of 36c Monday and 4c to -3c Tuesday. 32c drop in one day would beat most UK extremes for whole year.

Prolonged icy precipitation will soon cool the surface.
I'd be surprised if it's the earliest ever Denver could probably see falling snow in any month though July least likely.

January 2013 I think on 21st we had over 18 hours of snow and nothing settled here in Exeter and on 17th March we had 24 hrs of snow and it only left a trace before temperature fell to -1c and it covered and ended up with 6" of snow well into 19th March.

Crazy for Denver to go from a record breaking high temperature to record breaking September low including early snow but still don't know how people cope with the 30c or so drop in less than 24 hours. with heating off then back on and air con off won't they get sick?

Also looking at Death Valley - temperature high of 53.0c today - I know it's early but September is an Autumn month.

Residents of Denver would be able to have dinner outside in short sleeves at 8-9pm open all doors or close to keep cool and then wake up the next morning to 10cms of snow and -3c. Great

But seriously must be difficult but I would like to experience such rapid change and see how the weather can turn within less than 1 day!? Temperature falling some 2c per hour? Rain starting off as tropical thunderstorms and then as temperature drops from 35c to -3c it just turns to snow and settles!? Would love to experience this meteorological transition I guess.

A fascinating temperature change one of which I'm sure we'd all like to experience! Must be incredibly odd.

Wild temperature swings of the past decade in Denver
Feb. 24, 2014: In two hours, the temperature jumped from 26 degrees to 57 degrees in the midafternoon. The temperature stayed at 63 degrees until 10:30 p.m. By midnight, it had fallen to 29.
Jan. 5, 2015: 27.9-degree jump, from 12 degrees to nearly 40 degrees in one hour. The same day featured a 15-degree drop in one hour, thanks to a stalled stationary front. After a morning low of minus-4, the thermometer stood at 55 degrees just before midnight, marking the largest one-day temperature swing of past decade. Wednesday’s cold front just missed the mark.
Dec. 9, 2016: 11 degrees at 3 p.m., 53 degrees at 8 p.m.
Dec. 27, 2017: 2 degrees at 2 p.m., 45 degrees by 6 p.m. Two days later, on Dec. 29, the temperature swung from 63 at 8 p.m. to 30 degrees by midnight. The next morning’s low was 9 degrees.
Oct. 9-10, 2019: 82 degrees at 3 p.m., 32 degrees at 10 p.m. Winds gusted to 55 mph as the cold front rushed through, with snow falling shortly thereafter.

Wow....those California ENS graphs are quite extraordinary 😮

Just out of interest, is there a direct link to those black graphs on a page of their own? I used to have one for London but it seems to have stopped updating since the GFS upgrade last week. I know Brian has the new "30 up" ENS charts but I've just got used to looking at the black WZ ones over the years....and having a single image on a page is easier on a phone. Thanks.

I think Death Valley which currently a record hot October of over 38C 100F days and some 40's days, used to see only once or twice in October now will see big drop in temperatures to 20C early next week so that effects of the cold air in mid-west.
