As the Government is paying everybody's wages a good time to re-nationalise the railways and the Water Industry.

https://www.rte.ie/news/coronavirus/2020/0511/1137763-what-can-we-learn-from-swedens-covid-19-icu-figures/

Interesting article comparing infection rates in Sweden and Ireland. In particular, it compares ICU admissions in the two countries. You would think that this ought to be a good way of comparing countries. Obviously, there are significant differences in the way different states record deaths and apparent infection rates will differ based on the amount of testing done. However, international admission rates to ICU ought to be reasonably comparable. The article suggests that Sweden's infection rate is 3 times worse than Ireland's. By way of comparison to the UK, our figures are better than yours but not significantly. So all in all, the above suggests that Sweden may be the woest affected country in Eurpe. Which wouldn't be a huge surprise, of course.

The person who did this should be locked up for a very long time.

Horrific. I presume (hope) her colleague recovered. Some people just seem to enjoy causing pain, fear or grief in others. I truly don't get it.

It's such a contrast to the tales of generosity & courage we're hearing. Same species!

Total deaths at care homes have now exceeded hospital deaths over the past 7 weeks. Also the FT estimates of deaths have underestimated the true mortality as reported by the ONS (their latest estimate was 56,800 deaths until yesterday).

What evidence is there to directly link the alleged attack to her death.
We don't even know the attacker actually had CV or if there was more context not disclosed.
I really wonder why any newspaper reports in this way, are they trying to increase tension or what.
It's actually rather sinister what they will do for clicks.

Both employees were spat at. Both employees went down with CV19 14 days after the event. It could be a coincidence of course.

They're only planning to go in September now.

I assumed I'd just cancel or re-arrange, but that greedy, grabbing scumbag O'Leary has announced RyanAir flights will be restarting early July. Given their [illegal] withholding of fares for flights they've not fulfilled, I think the chances of being able to cancel and get my cash back is zilch, and if I want to rearrange no doubt prices will have spiked for alternative dates and I'll have to pay a hefty surcharge. I only used them because they're they only ones flying to & from Murcia International on the days we wanted.

Knew I'd regret it.

I know some people think I'm like a reformed smoker and only post negative comments about the Tory government these days. So to disprove that theory I will say that Sunak has been excellent. In fact a "dream time" now would probably compromise Hunt and Sunak running the Tory Party.

No way!, perhaps Rory Stewart or even your gardener Gauke

If Boris resigns over this and Sunak takes over, then Labour would be worried. He has got that X factor and would sweep up the ethnic vote

Rishi Sunak definitely has the potential to become a future leader and Prime Minister.

He is a solid communicator and clear about his intentions. He has also been helped since the Treasury appears to have a much better track record of implementing IT solutions quickly and reliably to match the Chancellor's policy intentions.

Yeah, but honestly, just doing that is bad enough, then saying that you're infected: regardless of the illness, how must those poor people have felt afterwards?

Press coverage also calls into question why an employee with a known underlying condition was allowed to work at the front.

I always try to avoid Ryanair even if that means not going to somewhere I might like. They seem to take crappy customer service to another level.

I flew with them once and I haven’t done since. I found the whole experience awful.

I much prefer to pay that bit extra and fly with BA.
