Stansted reporting 38C.
OK so we are still on target for 38C with one more hour to go but 38.5C can almost be ruled out now I think.
We probably have another 2hr window for it to happen somehow; but I now fear it’s slipping away.
Yes looks like the pesky cloud has done for us.
Agreed. So near yet so far.
My £500 Vantage Vue station is now recording 37.5 C here on the coastal edge. That can't be right but it's now in the shade and it does feel burning hot. It's also coming with 35% humidity.
It’s only 3pm and the cloud isn’t everywhere. Keep an eye on Sandton Downham - got the top spot a few times last year.
I think Bedford was on track, it was level with Cambridge at 1pm, but then the sensor packed up. Typical! http://www.weathercast.co.uk/world-weather/weather-stations/obsid/3560.html
No cloud here in Mid Suffolk yet and temperature still rising - 1C in the last 30 minutes to 34.2C. Could be encouraging for Cambridge.
My Vue did ok last year, when the country topped out just over 35C I think mine was 36.2C or so. Wasnt about to dispute it, given how far the nearest official one is to my home location, it could quite conceivably have been correct.
37.7C has now been reported at Writtle and Kew Gardens
