In the end, a total of 2.6 mm of rain fell at Edinburgh Gogarbank during yesterday, along with 1.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

So far as at 7am, a further 0.2 mm of rain has been recorded at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh during this morning whilst Edinburgh Gogarbank has been completely dry.

For Edinburgh Gogarbank, that takes this month's total so far to 7.8 mm, the total for this summer so far to 105.8 mm and the total for this year so far to 373.2 mm as at 7am this morning.

For the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, that takes this month's total so far to 13.4 mm, the total for this summer so far to 97.6 mm and the total for this year so far to 368.8 mm as at 7am this morning.

Unlike in the other two summer months which we have had this year, there has been no absolute drought during this month and there is unlikely to be one either.

Yet, this month is still running significantly drier than average so far. This is happening because on a number of occasions, heavy showers which have been forecast have often failed to materialise altogether and even when we have been getting rain, the amounts of rain which which we are getting are consistently turning out to be rather small and less than what had been forecast.

As long as this continues to be the case, this month will never end up being anything other than substantially drier than average in the end, even though the general outlook according to the latest model output is still unsettled.

Couple of showers yesterday, but still not adding up to much. 1.5mm to the end of the 10th.

A very wet day tomorrow looks likely for this area.

After a completely dry day yesterday (with the exception of the total of 0.2 mm of rain which was recorded at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh during yesterday, probably due to condensation), a total of 3.0 mm of rain has fallen at Edinburgh Gogarbank during today so far as at 7am this morning, along with 2.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Since it is still raining as well as I write, those above totals for today are unlikely to be today's final totals either.

For Edinburgh Gogarbank, that takes this month's total so far to 10.8 mm, the total for this summer so far to 108.8 mm and the total for this year so far to 376.2 mm as at 7am this morning.

For the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, that takes this month's total so far to 15.6 mm, the total for this summer so far to 99.8 mm and the total for this year so far to 371.0 mm as at 7am this morning.

Since I have been away from this forum for a few days, I can give an update on what has been happening over the last three days in terms of rainfall.

First of all, a total of 9.6 mm of rain fell during Sunday in the end at Edinburgh Gogarbank, along with 14.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which as of today, still makes Sunday the wettest day of this month so far at both of those stations.

Secondly, a total of 3.6 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 4.6 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

In addition to that, a total of 2.4 mm of rain has fallen at Edinburgh Gogarbank during today so far as at 8pm this evening, along with 1.4 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

For Edinburgh Gogarbank, that takes this month's total so far to 23.4 mm, the total for this summer so far to 121.4 mm and the total for this year so far to 388.8 mm as at 8pm this evening.

For the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, that takes this month's total so far to 33.4 mm, the total for this summer so far to 117.6 mm and the total for this year so far to 388.8 mm as at 8pm this evening.

For now, this month is still running slightly drier than average at Edinburgh Gogarbank, but is now running slightly wetter than average at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh with the outlook, still appearing to be rather unsettled over the next few days.

In the end, a total of 0.6 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank, along with 0.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

In addition to that, a total of 0.4 mm of rain has fallen at Edinburgh Gogarbank during today so far as at 7am this morning, along with 1.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

For Edinburgh Gogarbank, that takes this month's total so far to 24.4 mm, the total for this summer so far to 122.4 mm and the total for this year so far to 389.8 mm as at 7am this morning.

For the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, that takes this month's total so far to 34.6 mm, the total for this summer so far to 118.8 mm and the total for this year so far to 390.0 mm as at 7am this morning.

Furthermore, just two more official rain days are now needed to occur at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh between now and the end of this month, in order for this month to go down as being wetter than average at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, in terms of the number of official rain days (days where there has been a total of at least 1.0 mm at that particular station).

At the same time, five more official rain days are still needed to occur between now and the end of this month at Edinburgh Gogarbank, in order for this month to go down as being wetter than average at Edinburgh Gogarbank in terms of the number of official rain days.
