Variable winds and sunny from the start. Here's hoping for a SE wind today so we can join in with the UK's heat again

Anyway, today has got off to a nice and sunny start for a change with 2.6 hours of sunshine having been recorded for today so far as at 8am this morning and although I'm not actually expecting today to be the sunniest day of the year so far, today could end up putting in quite a strong challenge for that if it stays completely sunny between now and sunset.
However, last night was quite chilly for the time of year with an overnight minimum temperature of 7.7ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 7ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 9.7ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
Nevertheless, we have lost that annoying easterly wind for now and the temperatures have already started to respond nicely to the strong sunshine at this time of year. As long as those easterlies stay away from here, it could end up getting quite hot here later on today as a result.
In the meantime, the temperature at 8am this morning was 14.8ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 14.8ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
