Certainly a much more summer-like feel to things now that the nor'easter is gone. Already reaching 27 C & 50% H in hazy sunshine and it's not even 11 am yet.

After a sunny morning, a total of 6.6 hours of sunshine has now been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

However, those annoying easterlies are back again and along with that has come that North Sea muck which is lurking not too far away from here and ready to pounce when its has a chance to do so.

At the moment, that is making for quite an interesting view of things from where I live because I am probably only about a mile or so from the coast where I live and the Sun is still shining here just now as I write. However, there is also some thick fog which is obscuring the view of a lot of buildings and obstacles right on the coast itself which is quite weird to look at since that is also obscuring the sunshine from those parts as well.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 19.8ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 19ºC at Edinburgh Airport, but just 17.2ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Clouded over at 1000 but at 1030 the temp was still rising from 25C; quickly got to 26.2 but then plateaued. Sun out again and temp got to 27C before 12.00, rising on to 28.4 a few moments ago. Humid, with a breeze flicking between N and SE. Will we get the magic 30 here?

Pool is warming up nicely- had the cover over overnight.

Will be interesting to see if Thorney has joined the 30's party yet or not.

As well as an uptick there are signs now of a slight shift in orientation of the breeze, and adding to this thicker cloud has once again rolled in... things are cooling slightly.

I suspect 32C might not be reached here now with 31C being our best.

Still we often have double peaks during warm weather - 11am-1pm and again between 4.30pm-6.30pm.

This follows on from 15.7 hours sun yesterday so the first weekend since May with two good days.

29.3C and overcast after a 30C max- this has got to be noted or it will disappear with the next 'Current Conditions' replacement: the temperature kept rising under the cloud, and there was a sort of radiative heat feel about the afternoon; sounds absurd, but it was almost as if the cloud base was heating us up.

The earlier bank of east coast haar wasn't around for long so that didn't interrupt the continuous sunshine which we have had today and neither has the few areas of medium to high level cloud and fair weather clouds which were around later on.

This means that a total of 11.6 hours of sunshine have been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 5pm this afternoon so today is still looking at the very least, to be on course to end up being the second sunniest day of the year so far.

The one downside again though has been that constant easterly wind which once again resulted in the temperatures refusing to rise for very long during this afternoon although today did end up being slightly warmer than yesterday.

Today's maximum temperature was 20.5ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 19ºC at Edinburgh Airport, but only 17.9ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 5pm this afternoon was 19.0ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 18ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 17.4ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
